Does anyone have the latest firmware for W715, which I believe is the R1FA035? I'm still waiting for the sites like TopSony to have them, but it's still unavailable. It's been months....
pakraider
I haven't seen it publicly available anywhere.. it is however on files4gsm.de but you have to buy an account for access to their files.

btw the latest is now R1GA026; available on SEUS but not anywhere else right now.
geokilla
Any idea how to get the R1GA026? I'm changing my CDA around, hoping to find one where I can upgrade the firmware.

but patching is been done on R1FA035 & R1EA033

well i m a bit confuse, what to chose in R1FA035
CHINA or BALTIC
is it possible that MAIN can be GENERIC and FS cud be CHINA / BALTIC or NORDIC

Thanks to blacklizard and S Syar for the firmware notices and files. Will check them out!

I'm not really patching, as I haven't seen many patches that I will need or use, I'll use the R1GA030 if I can. As for which to use, it doesn't matter what MAIN file to use as they contain different language files. Other than that, I think they're all more or less the same.

Yes, MAIN can be GENERIC, while FS can be whatever you want. However, to be safe, make sure that ALL your files, including the custpack, are not branded.

Edit: Um can you direct me to where the files are? I'm using Google Translate to find the files, and so far, no luck.

thanks for the info blacklizard! smile.gif

SSyar, don't worry about the patches, I will port them to R1GA030.

Got the files. Apparently I had to register haha.

Question, if my CID gets upgraded to 53, will I have any problems with changing the FS and patching? I don't think I will since the latest version of A2Uploader fixes that, but I'm not too sure...

And as always, I can use any custpack I want correct?

All right, successfully got R1GA030 running. However, there's something that I really found useful the G705 R1FA035 Hong Kong firmware that W715 lacks. During texting, I can press 0 to bring up the symbols page. With the Baltic firmware, that feature is gone. Is there a way to add it back?

Edit: Yea texting with Baltic is not as good as the Hong Kong firmware for some reason. Texting seems to be smoother and quicker, whereas with the Baltic firmware, it uses T9 and can't easily access the symbols page, and if you type a word that doesn't exist, you have to wait for the screen to disappear.

hey geokilla
can u share where u download the firmware?
cause i cant find it anywhere
geokilla
blacklizard posted the site already. It's at mobilefree.ru

Does anyone know how to get the G705 R1FA035 Hong Kong method of texting? It's much better than W715 R1GA030 GENERIC BALTIC texting method.
pakraider
I read your previous post too.. I'm not sure what you mean by the different type of texting? in either firmware you can turn off T9 or turn it on.. you can use insert symbol, or press 1 and most symbols come up..

what are you looking for that isnt in the generic main with baltic fs?
geokilla
With G705 R1FA Hong Kong, pressing 0 brings up the symbols page. If you type something say "something" but you spell it wrong, instead of a pop up saying "Word not in dictionary", it'll just make a short pop up saying something similar to that, but you can instantly continue to type and fix your word, thus meaning no wait time. There's also word prediction with the R1FA Hong Kong for G705. It can determine the word I want to type, and the word will appear in a light colour. The word prediction exists in both firmwares, but I found it to be much better in R1FA Hong Kong for G705.

Also with R1FA Hong Kong, I can press * and easily switch from numbers to capitals to small letters, or just capital the first letter of the word.

I might be getting picky, but that's what I meant by different type of texting. They may be some more differences, but can't think of any at the moment. I've been spoiled by R1FA Hong Kong for G705 in terms of texting.

P.S. G705 R1FA Hong Kong's T9 is called quicktext.
pakraider
hmm.. everything you describe has always been there for W715 firmwares, including now.. did you make a backup of your T9 dictionary? since most of those features are there because of some heuristics based on the T9 dictionary and it learns which words you use most of the time (thats the light color prediction).. and * always cycles through lowercase, uppercase, and "Aa" which capitalizes the first word of the sentence..

maybe I'm not understanding you correctly, but I don't think there is any big difference between the firmwares.
geokilla
Ya you're not understanding what I meant. You have to use G705 R1FA035 Hong Kong to get what I'm talking about...it's one of those little things that made texting better. In terms of texting, G705 R1FA Hong Kong is better than W715 R1GA030 GENERIC Baltic because of those little things.

When I said pressing 0 brings up the symbols page, I mean that instead of going to the left soft key, then selecting Add symbol, I can just click 0 to add symbols. Word prediction was much better, etc. Again, little things that made texting better. Other than that, I think I like W715 R1GA030 more overall.
