Hi to everyone !=)

I had a question.

I live in Norway, and recently bought a W995 from UK. There is not norwegian language on the phone.
Could someone tell me how to get norwegian language in the phone and which apps?
I can't find any firmware for my phone.

Thanx smile.gif
lovedimpy
1) Search the needed language files & download (Firmware should be same... if you have R1FA035 firmware, then you have to download language files of that specific firmware)..... (i.e.- xx.lng & xx.t9) [where xx is the name of the language/file you want to install]

2) Copy tpa/preset/custom/customize.xml & and tpa/preset/system/language/allowed_language.txt from phone to PC

-----------
How to extract files from your mobile (Thanks to Boysie99 & Idumbakumar for the info & link. and thanks to jock for the codeclaw):-

DB3210 CID53 File extractor...
Download...
http://codeclaw.iouri.net/?download=dbx
Topic...
http://forums.se-nse.net/index.php?showtopic=43078
-------------

3) Edit them with notepad...
a) add one entry <allowed-language>xx</allowed-language> to customize.xml file
[after opening the .xml file search for the <allowed-language> string... put a new entry in there... keep the other entries same/intact...]
b) add one entry xx, to allowed_language.txt file

4) create a new blank (0 kb) file using notepad. rename it to customize_upgrade.xml
[IMPORTANT- Nothing should be written in it...]

5) Switch off the mobile.. remove battery and connect battery...

6) Use a2uploader to upload the files in mobile (by "drag-n-drop" method in below mentioned folder of mobile):-
a) modified customize.xml "tpa/preset/custom/" folder (overwrite previous file)
b) Blank customize_upgrade.xml file into "tpa/preset/custom/" folder (same folder of customize.xml)
c) modified allowed_language.txt to "tpa/preset/system/language/" folder (overwrite previous file)
d) & e) yourlanguage.lng & yourlanguage.t9 to "tpa/preset/system/language/" folder (same folder of allowed_language.txt)

7) click on shutdown file manager button & then exit from A2uploader. remove battery and insert again. start the phone..

DONE.. that language now is being shown in the "phone language" & "writing language" list .....

*****
go to mobile's (not in a2uploader.. in the normal mobile browsing), Menu>>Settings>>language>>"phone language" or "writing language" and see it the language you uploaded, is installed there or not???
For writing in that particular language in [i.e sms (t9)], you have to enable it from "writing language" (The language should be ticked).......

Files You need before you start the procedure
The first 2 files from mobile to PC & edit... AND.... have to download language files (last 2 files) (.lng & .t9) of W995:-

1) customize.xml
2) allowed_language.txt
3) yourlanguage.lng
4) yourlanguage.t9
5) customize_upgrade.xml (blank file)

For Further details read the thread First.. If you dont find the solution by reading the posts, then dont hesitate to post [smile.gif]

thank you very much...

but i cant see W995 FS there.... Hmm......

If i download C905 FS and extract the language files from there, will that work on w995????

-------------

@bikko

I just installed german language in my w995, following the above procedure. smile.gif it works in this phone too smile.gif

[I got this german language file from Rodriguezstyle / Dirty Rodriguez......]

just find me the language files (.lng file & .t9 file) for w995, you want to install.... i will make the customize.xml and allowed_language.txt for you smile.gif in the mean time i will try to search your language too.. smile.gif

================

EDIT:-

Anyone with W995 R1FA035 wants to share language files????

I am attaching my R1FA035 language files in this thread.... we can gather many language files of R1FA035, if we share our language files with different region....

W995-R1FA035, Region-M-EAST-N-AFR....
languages in it,

AR-Arabic
AZ-Azerbijani
EN-English
FA-Farsi
FR-French
RU-Russian
TL-Filipino

Hi yaar=) Thank you for the information. I will try this later today, but will the C905 FS work? And the above procedure is the first you posted right?
lovedimpy
I have no idea if the language from C905 will work or not.. You can try.... or u can give the language files from c905 and i will try for you before u do.. but the Firmware should be of R1FA035 of C905 (dont know if c905 has this firmware version or not)..... I can give it a try anyway....

and yes. the procedure i posted first, is the right one smile.gif edited that post with few changes.. but the main procedure is same.....

Hi, can you tell me where I can find the Italian language. I have a W995 and my current softw version is: R1GA026

I'd like to follow your explenation on how to change the language but I could not find the language in italian.

Even if I find the language I'm not quite sure I'll be able to install it. Do I need to use A2 Uploader and flash my phone (I rather not).

Will wait for your info, thanks for helping everyone.

Hi, I used "CodeClaw DB3210 CID53 File Xtractor 2.0" and it worked. but when I went into my phone I could not find the file you've mentioned:
tpa/preset/system/language/allowed_language.txt

I could find this one:
tpa/preset/custom/customize.xml

basically the only files in this location "tpa/preset/system/language/" are: "user_cdb.t9" and "wdb.t9" (none of the is .txt), but there is no such file called "allowed_language.txt"

Do I need to generate this file using "CodeClaw DB3210 CID53 File Xtractor 2.0"??? I could not see such option among the shortcuts (acoutstic, backup_t9, backup_alarm, cam-driver, cust-pack, layout, ligheffects, layout, startup/shutdown)

Any help on this?

also I guess in customize.xml for XX I should put IT:
i.e.
<allowed-language>it</allowed-language>

but when you said:
"b) add one entry xx, to allowed_language.txt file"
what do you mean exactly? Do I need to add the full string "<allowed-language>it</allowed-language>" ???

One more thing, in which folder should I put the two files you gave me (it.lng - it.t9) and the empty xml (customize_upgrade.xml) ???

I hope you're patient enough smile.gif

Thank you

are you saying about the files you have as backup after using codeclaw file xtractor???? (in codeclaw folder in M2 card)

or

you are saying about inside the mobile's original file system?? i am talking about original FS of the mobile. u can check them using a2uploader.. (without uploading or downloding. just take a look)

did not you find any .lng & .t9 files in that folder (apart from user_cdb.t9 and wbd.t9) ohmy.gif

By the way, try looking to that folder in the mobile by using a2uploader. just to check what files are in that folder....

If you cant find any shortcut in codeclaw, then you can actually create shortcuts as per your requirement to back up any particular file....

create a txt file inside the folder "shortcuts" (it is already inside codeclaw folder) in your codeclaw folder (in PC)... name it as per your choice....

in the text file u created write the following line & save it....
CODE
tpa/preset/system/language/allowed_language.txt

start the xtractor now. you will see your text file in the xtractor's shortcut list.....

if you would have seen the txt file, you would not have asked me the question tongue.gif

but anyway. i am explaining.. giving you an example below, how the allowed_language.txt looks like

only this line is written inside that text file.. nothing else.... where en=english and etc. etc.. tongue.gif i hope you will now understand what i meant.. smile.gif
CODE
en, eu, ca, nl, fr, gl, de, it, pt, es, tr, pl, ar, az, fa, kk, ru, uk,

Copy the file below inside the folder:>> "tpa/preset/system/language/" in the mobile using a2uploader
1) allowed_language.txt (modified)
2) yourlanguage.lng (in this case it.lng)
3) yourlanguage.t9 (in this case it.t9)

Copy the Files below inside the folder:>> "tpa/preset/custom/" in the mobile using a2uploader
1) customize.xml (modified)
2) customize_upgrade.xml (blank file)

=====

one more thing... dont post back to back..... mods will be angry.. if someone still has not replied your post, then use edit button and say/ask more by editing your existing last post of the thread....... just like i did that in this post....

if someone given you reply then use new post laugh.gif tongue.gif

you actually posted thrice before my post.... mods will not like that. smile.gif

=====

EDIT
Did you get italian in the phone???? did you do it???

or still stuck??

if u r still stuck somewhere, then upload your customize.xml file here. (zip/rar it first).

i will do the things needed to be done.... smile.gif

dscimone
OK I'm almost there smile.gif

I just don't understand how you upload all the newly created files using A2 Uploader???

What I'm doing is:

1) start A2 Uploader
2) click on "FileSistem Tool"
3) press C and connect cable
4) I can see all phone folders and files but I cannot do anything with them. When I right click on any file I have the following right menu options "read, delete, new folder, set RW, set RO".

How do I upload the new files???

Hopefully after this I won't bother you again smile.gif

Thanks again

No problem mate. i am not bothered at all. happy to help..... i have same step-by-step questions in every matter. so i can understand...

and i hope our current conversation will help out many in future..

coming back at what you asked.....

Drag-n-drop the file/files from PC to the a2uploader, (when you are in correct folder in the mobile in a2uploader window..........) smile.gif
dscimone
Thank you smile.gif

I did it and follow exactly what you said (replaced all amended files and replaced them by drag and drop and removed the battery twice before and after) but when I switch the mobile on the T9 language does not appear.

Don't know what to think now:

Basically to recap I did:

1) replaced customize.xml into "tpa/preset/custom/" (this file has the <allowed-language>it</allowed-language>)
2) replaced customize_upgrade.xml into "tpa/preset/custom/" (this file has no code)
3) replaced allowed_language.txt into "tpa/preset/system/language/" (added "it" to the end)
4) added it.lng and it.t9 into "tpa/preset/system/language/" (the two files you gave me)

NOTHING!!!

I was sure it was going to work but it didn't sad.gif

After I replace the file should I do anything else with A2 Uploader before quitting?

On the customize.xml the code is:

"
<language-variant-name>M-EAST-N-AFR</language-variant-name>

<allowed-language>en</allowed-language>

<allowed-language>ar</allowed-language>

....
"

maybe is the first line of code that is wrong? M-EAST-N-AFR???

Don't know what to think now:

Any idea?

go to mobiles (not in a2uploader.. in the normal mobile browsing)
Menu>>Settings>>language>>"phone language" or "writing language" and see it the italian lang is installed there or not???

For writing in Italian in sms (t9), you have to enable it from "writing language" (Italian should be ticked).......

if the above lines do not solve the problem, then kindly upload your "original" customize.xml & allowed_language.txt in a zipped/rared file here smile.gif
dscimone
YEEEES!!! THIS WAS THE PROBLEM, I DIDN'T ENABLE ITALIAN FROM THE MAIN MENU smile.gif

IS WORKING FINE!! YOU'VE BEEN GREAT, THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR ALL YOUR TIME!!!

WELL I CANNOT HELP YOU WITH PHONES FOR SURE BUT IF I COULD BE OF ANY OTHER HELP LET ME KNOW smile.gif

TAKE CARE AND THANKS AGAIN. CIAO

There's no need to edit allowed_languages.txt, just delete it.

No file = all languages allowed.

Pay also attention to the fact that the language files coming from older firmwares aren't working on R1G.

@Dimpy

One more question, where did you find this file "w995_r1ga026_Italian.rar" ?

Reason why I'm asking is because when I'll update the firmware to a new version then I suppose I need to do the same process as I did now but with the new language file.

Would be good to have the link to the acutal page from where you download these files.

Thank you smile.gif
