It was nice of Sony Ericsson to add Youtube to my phone but rather unfortunate that they forgot to install a flash player so i can view the content!

Has anyone had to install a flash player on their phone to view Youtube and such like?

If so, from where please so i can do the same!

You mean that you can't play YouTube videos?

Yes, I can search video & when i clcik on play, a bigger screen apeares but nothing happen more just time under video starts as like video is playing

I get a box saying unsupported file and when browsing youtube/other unearthly websites where the video is/should be i get a warning that says something about not having flash player installed?

It's like having an air con button in your car which does f*ck all!

wot firmware are you using? i am using R1EA032 and it works fine using the you tube icon in videos, i was trying 2 watch a vid last nite that wasent on you tube (another site) and it wouldent play, the flash icon appeared in the box and nothing more ????, iplayer also crashes phone for a couple ov minz!!!!!

i have a R1fa035 - APAC-ANZ, youtube doesnt work for me either, i have been gathering info and searching for some solution but no luck.

I have the same firmware and updated to R1EA033. Although that didn't help with the youtube issue. There is actually a thread here somewhere that discusses about the workaround. I save you the trouble of searching by reposting it. I'm sorry but I don't remember exactly which post it was originally and who posted it. I apologize for not properly crediting the original post. Just copy and paste to notepad the code below then save it as customize_upgrade.xml. Use A2Uploader to copy the file to your phone's filesystem under tpa/preset/custom/. Turn on your phone and you should be able to play videos from youtube either with the youtube application or the web browser. It worked for me. Again, I got this from another post. Hope this helps.

I rang SE last night and the guy said that there is no flash player available but i succesfully viewed vid's on youtube yesterday by selecting youtube from the media menu?

thanx for this and it seemed to have worked on c510 as well because i had the same problem (i think that most new A2V2 phones have it) however it seems to have corrected the problem partially..now i can see video but it gets very pixelated when it starts...couple first frames show well and then it gets pixelated badly...i think this code controls the stream...should we try changing that number in the code?

so i applied the code and now my internet stopped working. cant access any website. I would really like to stream videos and this is becoming very irritating. Ive been tryin to get it to work for several days now. tried opening ports on my router with no success.

i am able to watch youtube using wi-fi ........ try using wi-fi to watch it... you may need faster connection to stream videos....

i tried both wifi and streaming through 3G but it fails everytime. The timer for the video starts but theres no sound or video

you said your internet is not working... did you solve that problem before trying youtube in wi-fi?

my internet was working fine before i applied the code. youtube wasnt working before when i had internet and isnt working now with the applied code. so its not functional in either case

Using original browser (NetFront) wont work to view YouTube

Using Opera Mini does work, Using YouTube in media menu works....

my question is 1. How do i get my internet back? 2. Is there no other youtube fix?

yeah i know the browser wont work. But i meant the youtube application that came with the phone. It wasnt working before and isnt now as i said earlier.
The phone was bought in sweden and has the latest firmware. Its unbranded.

hmm Odd, mine's working

Indeed its really odd. I tried opening ports on my router and the damn thing refuses to show videos. I mean I can see the thumbnail and I click on it then the counter starts but theres no video to be found. Anyways I got my internet back, just did a reset for the settings.

yah. i am able to view youtube with the application "youtube" & by opera mini... and using http://keepvid.com/ , i can actually download youtube videos to my mobile too ......

One question.... everytime when I open opera mini and try to open a page it asks permission..... i always have to permit it to get access to any site (1 time per session). i tried to modify the "permission" java settings of opera mini. but it still asks permission.. any solution to give opera full access ???? it's very annoying

I have got the problem now.. (but, 50% solved)

I am so angry on my w995.... i was able to do everything on youtube (default thing in Media).... and previously I can watch in opera & default browser...

suddenly yesterday evening, when i tried to open youtube from "Media", it does nothing... (as if the application is not present there anymore ) i tried to open youtube in default browser or opera. it is not working and giving me message to install flash player and etc.....

I started to think what can be the problem. And i remember once i saw the link of the youtube pages in my mobile used to start as "www.m.youtube.com" ....... [Notice "m" in it. for mobile version..... ]

so, i put this address (with "m" in it) in address bar and tried to open the page.. youtube started to work in default browser & in Opera....

[Once you open youtube with the "m" in it, the site will always work... you don't have to put "m" in it from next time...
Until & Unless you click a link at the bottom of the page "View Desktop Version" . if you accidentally press that, then use the "m" method again to solve the problem.]

But i still am not able to solve the problem 100%, in Media..... I solved it 50%. but i am not happy with it.. I just installed minitube/youtube (java software) in my mobile. and i can use youtube in media..

But the problem is i always have to give permission to youtube (as it is not the default application which used to connect to igoogle server (youtube use it in mobile) and it is not rotating to landscape mode anymore and the video quality of it s**ks....

can you help me out with this.... I am actually requesting you to extract all the files responsible for the default youtube application came with our mobile originally (R1FA035) (it may be called iGoogle too.. not sure...... because it connects to igoogle media server directly..)... and which files are actually responsible for this application.....???

youtube.jad & youtube.jar files should be in \tpa\preset\default\java\... and i dont know where the other files should be in... (probably inside system of Phone Memory).......

I have those 2 files (jad & jar) of R1EA028 firmware. but those are probably old version files. R1FA035 has updated version files......


One more thing, my default "WF Navigator" started to give me "buying warning". it tells me to buy it... [though i still can use it...]
is it normal or my default applications got scr***d up???

As far as i know the Wf navigator is only a 3 month trial.After that you will have to buy it.
