Full Version: Does Any Se Mobiles Come With Usb 2 High Speed?
SE-NSE Forums > SE Hardware > Hardware Discussion
Mr Love
I've had my K800i since almost 3 years and I think it's been an amazing mobile. There's just one thing that buggers me - the very slow USB data transfer. I've now got a 4GB M2 card, and to fill this up from empty would probably take at least 1 hour, while I could transfer the same amount of data in a few minutes to a USB stick. Seeing as the latest mobiles support 16GB cards a USB 2 high speed connection obviously is imperative, but from SEs official site I can't find any such info.

So - does any of the current SE mobiles come with USB 2 high speed? If not, I'm afraid there'll be no more SE mobile for me.

New ones do (my w595 is USB 2.0 so I would imagine that every phone from then is USB 2.0)

Besides, even if your mobile (or indeed your computer in some cases) doesnt support it, you could buy a memory card reader

Yes, K800 is very slow, but it`s old model. When SE was developing K800, USB 2.0 wasn`t popular so now we have to fight with sending files via DCU60 with speed ~300kb/s. Buy a card reader, even the cheapest, and you will be happy. I bought one for 18PLN (about 5-6 EUR) and I send files to my memory card ~2,5mb/s

Actually, K800i comes with USB 2 as well, it's not just USB 2 high speed, a fact that I'm sure have fooled many including myself.

@cchaos: What is the actual transfer speed, or rather how long does it take for you to transfer say 1GB of data?

An external memory card reader is really not an option - it would be very awkward having to take the card out every time I want to put on some new files! No, my new mobile simply has to support USB 2 high speed, otherwise I won't buy it, simple as that.

I've just send an email to SE themselves, let's see what they say...

I can confirm that data transfer on my W595 is very fast smile.gif, in contrary to my W810 smile.gif

OK thanks, I guess the new models all should come with it but I still find it very strange that it isn't stated anywhere - in fact the specifications found on the official SE site is ridiculously general, with no transfer speeds etc mentioned.

Sometimes the info on the sonyericsson.gif page is even wrong tongue.gif
