Full Version: Phone With The Best Signal Strength/rf Performance?

At work we've just moved to a new unit and new wards, and unfortunately it seems that whatever they built the place out of impedes mobile signals pretty badly!

I have a couple of phones, my HTC Touch Diamond will just get a very weak signal right next to a window on certain parts of the ward, and my P1i works a bit better and gets a signal a little further into the building. An old Samsung E250 is pretty bad, almost no signal anywhere in that building.

What are the best performing phones (SE or non-SE) signalwise currently out? Doesn't matter if they're a slightly older model, but would prefer it if they have 3G and/or Edge, but preferably HSDPA also.

Alternately, short of getting an external aerial is there much I can do to improve signal performance? I know you can get these signal strength 'boosters' but they're pretty rubbish!

To a certain degree, yes, but it still depends on the hardware of the phone

Precisely, it's more a hardware query as all networks where I work are pretty much as bad a each other signalwise, so looking for the best phone to use with my current sim, or if there is a marginally better network signal at work to find a phone that will allow me to get the optimal signal I can get in that building smile.gif

I've tried my O2 sim in a couple of different phones and found my P1i marginally better at keeping a signal, looking for a phone with the best ability to hold a signal whatever the network. I've had one recommendation of the Motorola V8 as having a good signal performance so far - any others?

when i googled abt it, got this website, check it out, http://www.swotti.com/mobilephones/best-ra...ion-quality.htm

Cheers for the link, looking at it from that site the Samsung G600 is very good on RF performance - anyone here back that up?

I'm hoping that's the case, as the G600s are now quite cheap to buy, would make an ideal backup/work phone!

I can remember my G600 to be fine, didn't recall it to be spectacular but definitely better than a couple of my other phones that would get 1 bar rather than 2 in a remote part of France.

Seriously, go for a Samsung SGH-S500. Sure it's ancient but it's got the best call quality and noticeably better signal than the rest of the phones I've had including a C905, W595, iPhone 2g, K850, W880, K750 and so on. tongue.gif
