Hi to all, I've been using this cellphone all the time with diferent firmwares! After i unlocked it and changed about 50 generic firmwares, I've finaly discovered a way to debrand it in an easy way getting out the Vodafone Craps! and Keeping their menu icons!
You only have to do this:
1º Update your Phone using SEUS (Sony Ericsson Update Service);
2º Connect it to a2uploader go to tpa\preset\custom\ and delete the file RIGHT_SOFTKEY_HOOK.itm then go to system\preset\custmenu\ and delete the files inside this paste RIGHT_SOFTKEY_HOOK
(It is going to clear the right vodafone button with the logo and text and it will make your phone clear and like the default saying search).

3º Go to tpa\user\picture\ and you will see 3 image files Startup.gif, Shutdown.gif and Screensaver.gif which are not able to delet, so what you need to do is right click on them and choose set RW access and then erase the 3 files.
4º Go to tpa\preset\custom\ search for Customize.xml click on the right button do read (And the file will go into your A2 Uploader paste somewhere like this A2 Upload\ph_out\)
5ª Edit that file with the notebook or notepad and change this info:
Search this in customize.xml With NoteBook:

6º Go to tpa\preset\custom\ do the upload of the customize.xml file inside.
Congratulations, You have debranded your phone now it looks like an original one with no trail of vodafone!

7º Extra [Deleting Vodafone Messenger and Vodafone Music! (also works for the demos)]
(For the ones who don't use Vodafone SIM Cards do this)

Easier to change the CDA to a generic one and then flash with SEUS.

There is no way to do that in this phone this one is a Vodafone Exclusive See for urself! I've tried that many times and won't worked!

The problem doesn't resides only on the firmware!
The problem resides on the custom pack.
SEUS filters the IMEI so i can't get the nordic firmware trough him because my phone isn't from sweden nordic or where the hell that is!

I made this tutorial because i don't like the classic main menu icons from that firmwares from TopSony and SEUSERS!

I want him as the default it is but without Vodafone Inside!

That's the Default Menu Icons From W715, There are any Custom Pack With that for W715 and firmwares i've tried lots and not even one changed that! So This Tutorial Is Valid until someone cames and say: "The hell not, there is a more easy way to get it debranded by SEUS" I wana see this happen i've tried about a week changing firmwares and custom packs there wasn't even one equal to W715 default so..
Stop blaming and saying wrong things..

1º Using different CDA's don't get you off the vodafone on this phone (even baltic or nordic CDA's versions) (if ur phone imei isn't from that country)
2º Firmwares are generic but the main icons can't be modified
3º Custom Packs there any for W715! Only for C905 or W705 and the menus organization and even apps are different's!

The thing is me! I don't like that! So i made this tut because it is the better way to get the phone debranded! Still i'm trying to figure out a way to uninstall Vodafone Messenger! and Vodafone Music! Apps (the two only things i can't get off) the rest is perfect and full debranded!



Thats a CID53 where u can damage ur phone and even that custom pack inside is from C905 Mobile.. so... the problem cames again C905 menus are different from the W715!

Because i paid for a Sony Ericsson W715 and seems i have to use the Sony Ericsson C905 System!

Exactly. By changing the CDA you are effectively writing a new custom pack to your phone (via customize_upgrade: turn on the phone afterwards, it says "please wait". Once at standby, turn it off, then try SEUS)

How do you think that people have managed to change from branded firmware to genric firmware before a2 uploader had flashing?

Mate Stop, How many times do i have to repeat? I've done that lots of times and it didn't worked! It reinstalls the new version with the vodafone operator. Do u have this phone, anyway?
I've tryied a bunch of CDA versions even Proxinator did help me and it didn't worked! There is no way to debrand it by Seus its a Vodafone Exclusive!! See for yourself then talk to me! But if anyone knows a way i'd like to know it.. Keep Posting i wana learn more

I just wanted to alert everyone, i failed at that because i should alert everyone in the first place.
1º I've tried lots of firmwares and custom packs, and CDA's Updates, didn't solve my problem!
The main menu icons and the files organization changed!

And i bought a W715 i dont want to use a C905 on it, this is my trouble so this quick tutorial i made it the more simpler way to get it debranded with everything it cames!

Until Now i just have 2 things i can't do but i haven't tested it yet (tested i mean searched how to):
2 App's - Vodafone Messenger and Vodafone Music (How to delete them? Like the demos how can i delete them?)

Without this 2 apps the phone is full debranded! The next pass is this:
Sony Ericsson Support to configure WAP, MMS and e-mail (if you're not using Vodafone SIM cards of course)

That's why i wanted someone with the W715 to confirm it to me!
Because from me I've been testing it and it didn't worked.
Don't mix this:
There are phones that are exclusive for 1 Operator Ex: Vodafone where you don't see them on sale in other operators.
And there are phones branded for every operators but that ones u can debrand using SEUS!
This one is Exclusive and Only For Vodafone! Thats why u can't find a generic version on SEUS and only Generic Versions for Nordic People but my IMEI is from Portugal SEUS can't help me in that!

Ok, heres what Ive discovered:

However: in your case, you might have a problem with the languages as it does not include the Romanian language (which is why SEUS is not changing it to w715 nordic, esp if you have tried using a CDA with a Romanian language in it) Source: http://www.topsony.com/forum/cmps_index.ph...e=info_lenguaje

However: having said the above, you could also try adding the language to the phone manually. Im pretty certain you can, and theres a tut/guide for adding languages to phones in this section of the forum (although they will use either xs++ or FAR, the process is pretty much the same. Just remember that your using a2 uploader)

Personally, if SEUS keeps failing, I would use a2 uploader to flash it, and add the language in after it has been flashed, then edit the custom pack to allow the language to be used.

i still dont get it

the cda trick works on this model but 1 icon is always missing and even though it "says" it has generic firmware, it has a vodafone link in the main menu.

editing the menu.ml or uploading a W705 menu.ml should have fixed it the first time...

Using W715 Firmwares makes the 1rst flash icon go missing, Different's Custom Packs change the files icons and organization.
We didn't made any CDA trick because that brings the branded version again.. like u saw.. i just changed firmwares W715,W705,C905 and G705 no one had the same W715 Main Menu Icons!
cchaos, That firmware was the first one i used its useless, still didn't understand that of Romanian language you were talking about, My Lang is Portuguese and i know how to put my language on the phone because before making any change to it i made a full backup w/ A2 Uploader..

Your last options seems to be my tutorial.. i don't need to flash just need to upgrade it in SEUS and do this tutorial changes and its fine...

I know this is kinda strange because u guys seems to be used to the SEUS trick and the phone goes debranded but this is an Vodafone Exclusive i don't know why the hell SEUS brings the vodafone craps with it but its a fact!

i add cro language,edit custom,edit alowed language but no success
that menu icons is nice but too bad that image tool or ego replacer dont work with 3210

You changed ur W705 to a W715 using a firmware totally branded!?
Then u tried to put ur main language but u couldn't? You needed to make a backup of ur language first to upload it after that process, but u can get ur language back just Redo Everything and use SEUS to get ur files back..

Ok here i go again.. lol! Don't get offended by this. Its just because i said this before:
They launched this model for every vodafone operators thats why it is an exclusive for vodafone. But Nordic country's don't have vodafone so they got this model has a generic version, right? Thats why u saw a generic firmwares on Top Sony and SEUSERS. But when i flashed my phone with those MAIN and FS firmware my phone became with a different main menu icons, i don't know if that happened because of the firmware or the custom pack! But i don't like them both so i have tryied to change menu.ml, customized.xml to see if there was a way to changed them and it was useless..

Does anyone has this mobile debranded with the original menu icons and organization? or i'm the only dumb here?

Actually that is the nordic phone version, since they have no vodafone operator they made it saying walkman on it i just didn't knew the phone had Walkman written in.. So it seems there are no differences in W705 and W715!

Yep, Vodafone CP gives VF main menu icons and menu. Other CPs gives other main menu icons and other menu. Try different CDAs you get different icons when you update with SEUS.



Does the CDA trick works cross-model? I don't have a A2 phone atm so I cannot confirm any of this, however to me it sounds impossible running C905 firmware on W715, different hardware circuits / parts (correct me if I am wrong).


These icons are not default W715 icons, maybe therefor all this confusion between members. I've owned a generic W715 from SE, and it has like all other A2 phones the same default icons (like in generic C905, W595 etc).

calm down, lol.. that firmware has a MAXIMUM CID of 53.. my phone (a G705) is indeed CID 52 but I can install that firmware just fine, and it doesn't upgrade your CID or anything like that.

custom pack is just a bunch of .xml files, it doesn't matter that it has C905's name. it will not make ANY difference to your phone; you can go into notepad and edit it if you'd like to say W715, or SonyEricssonRules, or whatever you want; it won't change anything. I just write my own custpack and put in whichever languages I want. The menu.ml makes the menu, not the customize.xml; so the generic custpack will work just fine (just don't use a vodafone custpack)

I don't see why you're getting so excited there is true generic unbranded firmware for the W715; so why not use it?

i think what he meant was that he flashed it. there is no way you can cross flash with seus unless you can change the first 8 letters of your imei to the model you want to crossflash to, which is (of course) illegal.

you could probably turn on your phone with the c905 firmware, but most of the stuff wouldn't work.

Seems to me that u guys have a point, well i wasn't 100% sure if that icons were or were not the W715 oficial.
But in this tutorial i can keep them and take of vodafone tracks.
I've searched for this icons and i haven't founded and sometimes the 1rst icon is totally different from the other models and in the flash the C905 custom pack doesn't do a great job, or the 1rst icon goes missing or there are icons with no go where u click on them and they don't do nothing... its kinda strange but i've images of that.. (Ok its not C905 fault but lets say this phone has less main menu themes than the others, and if it has how to replace them by the original?)


Let's Say this Tutorial for the Main Menu Icons Is fine and Firmware for the default phone are fine.
Just one thing Snowiffic, the left is a W705 theme the first menu icon isn't like that and even the organization of the files isn't that on W715 correct?

After looking a bit, they look a bit over-glossy for SE icons... So they are not TOTALLY generic, maybe a bit modded.

They're the theme creator icons on left, not default A2.

Vodafone Main Menu Icons seems to be more awesome then the generic Sony Ericsson Ones.. thats why i don't want to lose them... and i guess there are more people in the same situation..

you can download a W910 vodafone MAIN and extract the icons from it using SE Image Tool and use those if you'd like.

for me, i have found R1DA035 firmware (main and FS) not custpack (though i have found one right now but i think it's missing a lot of stuff, it doesnt have languages and these) I just want to get rid from everything that vodafone is related to and to get the left menu on the above image, not the vodafone one.

How will this finally happen? Cause my phone has R1DE001 firmware and SEUS doesnt let me to upgrade. Tried to change CDA, nothing again :/ (wanted somehow to downgrade it and then upgrade again with SEUS but i dont have the custpack and the greek language, also i dont know how to extract the greek language and this is where i stop everything and not trying anything) Any help related to this? Cause as far as i see its a big confuse..

Ok from what i understand u want to debrand your cellphone which is? W715 Right?
When you try to flash it using some firmware u should first make a full backup in that way u can keep your language and then after the flash u can upload the language to the phone..

If u want to keep the main menu icons has the vodafone ones, do this tutorial, you can keep them and rip of about 90% of the vodafone.. there still some Vodafone live!.text inside which can't be removed by debranding because that is on the .lng file (language file its hard to edit) but excluding that the phone is totally debranded...

Upgrading it by Seus changing it CDA to make it the "default" debrand doesn't work on this phone.. i've tried and never worked.. until someone says the opposite..

What u can do is this tutorial, flash it with some other firmware, changing CDA's and hoping it works, or keep the vodafone cellphone lol.

I have downloaded R1DA035 NORDIC, saved the greek language, and i think i'll do the same as W810 (deleting every other language except German, French, English, Greek ) Thanks for the info, and i've done already your tutorial. I tried and succeeded. I used the Customize_upgrade.xml trick with CDA-String from NORDIC.

After turning it off and on, waiting for the "Please wait" to disappear I could debrand it with SEUS without any problems. It just took about a day to get the german language onto the phone.

So it works now? But it didn't worked for a long time i guess.. and it keeps the vodafone main menus? Or they change them to the default ones? and are u sure about that, because i've seen some of ur posts asking how to debrand this phone..

for the german language did you change the customize.xml line where it has the languages to german? for example you changed <allowed-language>hu</allowed-language> to <allowed-language>de</allowed-language> ?

i'll give it a try and see if it works..
