Weird. I would use FAR and JD flasher, and see if that comes up with the same error
After clicking no, it finished up. I took out the battery and put it back and tried to turn it on, but nothing again...sigh.

Anyway, when I run the jdflasher plugin with FAR Manager, it says "Full installation of plugin required". So I obviously need the link in the middle right? But the link doesn't work.

Bearing in mind to get SAMM working correctly you will need 2 patches: Additional links and Softkey Hook.

Yes thats the name of the patches: Additional_links_v2.5.vkp and Softkey_hook.vkp
Along with the elfpack patch you will need a library and a dyn_const.bin

Use the QAscript and it doesn't matter what order you apply patches.

You're not missing anything. Thats just the patch doing whats its supposed to do. Go to menu, settings, general, shortcuts to edit all the keys.

I want the middle button to open the the new skinned menu, but it doesn't seem like it wants to.
I set it to open main menu, but nothing opens up.

Are you talking about opening SAMM? You'll need to edit the bcfg for SAMM correctly so it opens with joystick press.

u need to install additional links patch and DEACTIVATE the centre joy, and then configure in SAMM to open menu by middle joy, only then it ll be working
I'm not sure how to edit it lol.

well u just install the above said patch, then use BCFG edit to put centre key to MAIN MENU.

WRONG. There is no need to deactivate in the shortcuts. Just set joystick in bcfg.
it is right, i have done it and it works, may be along with soft hook but i'm not sure on it

oh that might be but we have to have that patch installed, the deactivtion might make no differences. forgot..
For correct operation SAMM needs 2 patches; Softkey hook and Additional shortcuts.

Alright this is annoying me, I get this far and I don't even have the menu pop up.

Oh yeah sorry I should have said. Put in usb/other/zbin/config.
