the tutorial on patching CID 53 was a bit confusing to me. it would have been better if there was a noob friendly tutorial.

i'll try to patch my phone and hopefully i'll do it rite! one question though will i have to go through the whole process again if i try to install new patches after some time or will it be easy as in CID 52 phones?
Boysie
Once you have installed the QAPatch, then patching is easy: Just select QA2020 in JDF then BFlash then copy vkps. The tricky part is applying the QAPatch but once thats done its a breeze. smile.gif
bishal86
i tried searching for patches for K800_R8BF003 but couldn't find much. do u guys have some links where i can download 'em?

How did the QApatching go...? smile.gif

When you run Executor from games the phone should turn off automatically. And you are using the AnyCID qa2020 script right?

yeah i copied the qa2020 from the zip file i downloaded and put that in Far/Plugins/jdflasher/scripts.
the phone seemed like it would turn off when i ran executor but it restarted.

Already have mate. Look at post 10 wink.gif

there is this elf that changes logo operator with some text of our choice right? is it workin on k800i?

also i tried to remove one patch that i installed that changes icons on phone and memory card in file manager. but it shows byte mismatch. how do i remove it?
Boysie
You can do all sorts of nice things with StandbyMode elf, including removing the operator logo and displaying custom messages.

To remove a patch with SETool, press 'Yes' when asked to apply patch and with JDFlasher you tick the 'Remove' option. smile.gif

With GFX patches its best to make your own with ImgTool because people tend to use the same donor images as someone else and then you get the mismatch warning. If you ever see this DO NOT continue with the flashing. Doing so may result in you flashing the main again. wink.gif

i think the elf i am refering to is called 'logo changer'.
and about removing the patch, i use jdflasher as my phone is CID53 and i selected remove patch but it gives byte mismatch.
when i use imgtool, what if i use the same donor image that the patch i already installed uses?
will it be alrite if i remove all the gfx patch and start making some myself?
Boysie
Yes, I know logo changer, but StandbyMode is far better. If you get mismatch when removing patch then the patch can't be on the phone.

is standbymode elg and sleepmode elf the same?

and it was my mistake in removing the patch. i was trying to remove the patch that i had already removed. that's why ist was showing byte mismatch. smile.gif
Boysie
No. There is a clue in their names! tongue.gif Sleepmode for displaying info on sleepmode screen and Standbymode for displaying info on er... Standby screen! smile.gif

sorry my bad. laugh.gif
i downloaded and installed the sleepmode elf which was of no use by the way.
i am currently using the logo changer elf. i searched for standby mode elf but can't find it.
and one more thing, how do i close and elf? i tried to use bookmanager but using it made my phone restart.
Boysie
StandbyMode elf...

You really need to get Bookmanager running in order for you to close elfs. I suggest making sure your library is up-to-date. smile.gif

i have the latest library.
i used bookmanager 2.5. and i faced the following problems:
1. i am unable to assign keys to start it. i made changes to the ini file but didn't work. it starts with the center of joystick but it only displays when in standby mode. when i enter menu or other place and hit the center key, it displays for split second and disappears.
2. when i tried to run two or three elfs at the same time, the phone restarts. i ran logo changer, bookmanager and elf manager and the restart thing happened to me. now i am not running book manager and it is not restarting.
3. i get following message when i get to the elf tab.

Boysie
Dont worry about that message. Its normal. It just means the elf you selected does not have its own screen to activate.

What elfpack are you using?
All these restarts is definately a lib problem. I will upload my lib when I can. smile.gif

thanx my man. should i be using newer version of elfpack. if yes how?
and other thing is there a tutorial on sysgfx patch on k800i?
bishal86
and what is this standbymode file u gave me. it has got .elf but no .ini file
Boysie
StandbyMode elf doesn't use an ini file for settings. Most elfs these days use bcfg for which you'll also need bcfgedit elf.

If you can wait a while I'll make a basic Tartes Mod elfpack for you containing all patches, files and some elfs etc in the correct folder structure. All you need to do then is connect your phone in mass storage mode, copy folders to phone and card and apply the patches...voila! smile.gif

thanks a lot man. i will wait for it. laugh.gif

i was wondering when we use qa2020 in jdflasher there is this bfs. what is it for?
i use ofs from db2020 for copying stuffs to my phone and bflash from qa2020 for patching.
cchaos
BFS means broken file system: this is used to backup some things from your phone, as well as upload things like acoustics etc. This works with CID52, not sure with CID53 though
