i wanted to install elfs and i was wondering if i needed to patch my phone in order to do that as i have been unable to patch my CID 53 phone. the tutorial on elfpack says to install two patches elfpack and elf lib. where do i download it?

the tutorial on patching CID 53 was a bit confusing to me. it would have been better if there was a noob friendly tutorial.

Basically, Any CID patching isn't noob-friendly . Just make sure you follow the instructions precisely

Once you have installed the QAPatch, then patching is easy: Just select QA2020 in JDF then BFlash then copy vkps. The tricky part is applying the QAPatch but once thats done its a breeze.

i copied customize_upgrade and executor.jar but when i tried to copy executor.b in tpa\preset\custom it showed the following error:
error file not found.
cannot find executable file 'phzlpc'
what do i do?

i tried to copy again and it was copied.

when i ran executor from games, the SE logo appeared for a while and phone turned on. then i turned off the phone re inserted the battery and connected to FAR using qa2020. when i selected bflash it showed this errorClick to view attachment

When you run Executor from games the phone should turn off automatically. And you are using the AnyCID qa2020 script right?

yeah i copied the qa2020 from the zip file i downloaded and put that in Far/Plugins/jdflasher/scripts.
the phone seemed like it would turn off when i ran executor but it restarted.

well i patched my phone and i think it went well. i tried to install some patches but they gave byte mismatch error so i didn't continue with them.
i'm gonna try other patches now.
can i now delete the executor jar file from games?

You can do all sorts of nice things with StandbyMode elf, including removing the operator logo and displaying custom messages.

To remove a patch with SETool, press 'Yes' when asked to apply patch and with JDFlasher you tick the 'Remove' option.

With GFX patches its best to make your own with ImgTool because people tend to use the same donor images as someone else and then you get the mismatch warning. If you ever see this DO NOT continue with the flashing. Doing so may result in you flashing the main again.

i think the elf i am refering to is called 'logo changer'.

Yes, I know logo changer, but StandbyMode is far better. If you get mismatch when removing patch then the patch can't be on the phone.

and it was my mistake in removing the patch. i was trying to remove the patch that i had already removed. that's why ist was showing byte mismatch.

No. There is a clue in their names! Sleepmode for displaying info on sleepmode screen and Standbymode for displaying info on er... Standby screen!

You really need to get Bookmanager running in order for you to close elfs. I suggest making sure your library is up-to-date.

i have the latest library.
i used bookmanager 2.5. and i faced the following problems:
1. i am unable to assign keys to start it. i made changes to the ini file but didn't work. it starts with the center of joystick but it only displays when in standby mode. when i enter menu or other place and hit the center key, it displays for split second and disappears.
2. when i tried to run two or three elfs at the same time, the phone restarts. i ran logo changer, bookmanager and elf manager and the restart thing happened to me. now i am not running book manager and it is not restarting.
3. i get following message when i get to the elf tab.

Dont worry about that message. Its normal. It just means the elf you selected does not have its own screen to activate.

What elfpack are you using?
All these restarts is definately a lib problem. I will upload my lib when I can.

Remove old lib and patch that one. Just rename the pkg to rar.

StandbyMode elf doesn't use an ini file for settings. Most elfs these days use bcfg for which you'll also need bcfgedit elf.

If you can wait a while I'll make a basic Tartes Mod elfpack for you containing all patches, files and some elfs etc in the correct folder structure. All you need to do then is connect your phone in mass storage mode, copy folders to phone and card and apply the patches...voila!

i was wondering when we use qa2020 in jdflasher there is this bfs. what is it for?
i use ofs from db2020 for copying stuffs to my phone and bflash from qa2020 for patching.

BFS means broken file system: this is used to backup some things from your phone, as well as upload things like acoustics etc. This works with CID52, not sure with CID53 though
