Hi there... been trawling the net looking for information on how I might be able to de-brand my Sony Ericsson W715 which is covered in Vodafone (UK) branding.

Will I find this is possible and are there some links to help on here?

Any pointers would be welcome, I'm quite computer literate and have done stuff like this in the past to other makes of phone, just could do with a nudge to get me started please...

I would also like to know this as they really have messed with it far too much. Can I ask you if you have the light application on yours mate? It appears they have removed it
I have looked up about how to do it but have no idea where to look for the firmware.

If you find unbranded versions of the phone's FW, you can unbrand it . But AFAIK W715 is Vodafone exclusive, so I guess there won't be any .

Well, Vodafone have sort of played about with it a bit like they do!! I Suppose I can put up with Vodafone forcing their Vodafone Live onto onto one of the keys (which can't be changed) although I'll never use it. BUT... it is a shame that it seems the original Sony Ericsson themes don't exist on the phone, you certainly see can't get anything that looks like the theme they've used in the SE advertising.

Vodafone are so stupid... SonyEricsson go to all that design trouble and Vodafone slap their own branding all over the place making it look cheap and tacky, why the hell they can't ship the phones as the manufacturer makes them I don't know. I can't think of a single phone I've had in the last 5 years that they haven't runined with their own crappy graphics in one way or another.

If anyone reads this and somehow has the original W715 themes from SonyE then please get in touch or post a link.

If Vodafone has put some of their links on your softkeys, you could try altering it with RIGHT/LEFT_SOFTKEY_HOOK.itm files

I have it,MAIN Generic + FS Nordic!
But only for SETool Box

Thanks for the replies so far, I downloaded the themes from the link thanks, I'll try look later on at it all a bit more SE Toolbox is some kind of official software is it? ...or something that public don't have?

If only people could just create some really professional looking themes rather than just millions of ones for kids that would be better (I can put up with the stupid Vodafone Live key being 'hogged') ... I don't see why they can't have some nice business-like themes. Problem is, you go looking and all you can find are kids ones all over the place, I'd even pay for some if I could find them but its always just kids things!

I always have the same problem, I hate those ugly jagged childish fairy themes

Just found exactly what I was looking for. Hope this helps anyone who has a W715 who wants to ditch the ugly Vodafone live branding for good. Follow these instructions (Originally Russian, but I tried with mine and now I have the original Sony Ericsson software- a million times better!) to debrand the W715!:

Be careful - I'm not sure if a warranty will be voided by doing this, but it worked fine for me. I'm so happy the icons look like what they're supposed to and I have the "Torch" in "Organiser and tools"!

would also like to debrand my UK Vodafone w715. any help in starting those of us in the same boat would be appreciated. how to remove Vodafone from phone? what to put on the phone instead? i dont even know what the phone is based on before it is turned into the w715 by Vodafone, therefore, dont know what to look for as replacement files. can someone please point us in the right direction?

hi. tnx for links, silvia26. shows how dumb i am but why the nordic main and fs files? i assume english language is in there as well? you suggest the custom c905 nordic. i assume because the other files are nordic? i read that i must use custom file, but can it be any custom file or must it be nordic because the main and fs used are nordic? just trying to understand, thats all. can basically any custom file for sony ericsson phone be used, as long as main and fs are used first?
