On my Sony Ericsson (NYSE: SNE) W580i phone I recently added some new songs and played them...Nothing unusual...HOWEVER I wanted to take a picture with my phone's camera and it says I can't because anther application is running. YET I haven't used any application except the music player...And you CAN use the music player with camera anyway...I checked at the top of my main menu...Guess what! All I see is the bars (for signal) meaning no application is running. Has this happened to anyone before? YES I did try restarting it...

yes this happened to me already... try changing the cam driver by the way, are you using the stock driver or a modded one?

weird.... you tried the stock driver? maybe reflashing the FS would work but let's see waht solutions we can come up with before resulting in doing that

What does backing up the FS do? Files on the phone only or does it also back up the patches?

This is most likely a hardware problem if reflashing firmware doesn't work.

well yea, it has to be if no drivers work... but why would it give that error?

I thought if camera flex cables died they just dont load the camera, not give an error of java app is running

Well, it does on my w810, so I guess it must be the camera module itself

well i don't know... i know on DB2020, when the camdriver is not for your phone, it gives the "another application is running..." error but on DB2010, the camera will open then close.

Can someone please tell me what backing up FS backs up (Patches, files, or whatevs) and how to do it?? I reflash as long as I can get my patches back.

you can always apply your patches to the main once you have them... but when you flash the FS, you lose all your data (everything on the phone's memory).... like messages, contacts, whatever is in the phone memory, it doesn't backup patches because patches are found in the main... it would be like when you now purchased the phone (debranded depending on which firmware you use)

Do a backup for your messages and contacts using my phone explorer, then you could flash your FS. If that doesn't help you, flash your main.

you can use jdflasher or setool2 lite to backup your FS too

Well, I completely reflashed, not just the FS, everything, and the error still appears.

Then it is a hardware problem. You can either take it to SE service center or do it your self if you have a spare flex cable.

What about an ATT service center? That's where I got it from. Will they midn if it's flashedd?
