Full Version: Patches, Elfs And All That Stuff In General
SE-NSE Forums > SE Firmware > Newbie Forum

I'm gonna ask probably retarded questions here, so just bare with me.

Phone: w580i, Firmware: R8BE001, CID52.

I'm not totaly clueless, I just have trouble navigating this place... in particular finding patches, working ones, I havent yet tried throwing anything in. There's a massive patch list here, but from what i see they all are not for my firmware... so do I just wait for new stuff or there's something I'm missing?
Then there's the applying of the patches, I didnt find anything specificaly saying what to do with the "code" given, but from what I've already seen you need to save it in a .vpk file, although might seem easy and "duh!"... for my noobish self, I was confused... ^^

On to the Elf questions.
Elfs were sort of easier to get, but then again, where do I get them? In this post, the downloadable elfpack is for W580_R8ba024? Once again not usable for my phone?

I'm still not yet completely sure how to add patches/elfs, but I should be worrying about it after I get my hands on something that I can actually use. I havent looked anywhere else except SE-NSE forum, a trustworthy source I assume. So could someone link me to something working/safe and possibly outside of this forum, some other site, or to something that's already here... that I didnt notice.

Please point out my noobish-ness and how much I fail, and show me where to go please. If not guided I tend to break things. If my questions are beyond stupid, I'd appreciate a few links to comprehensive topics from where I should start and what to learn etc...

Many thanks ;]

EDIT1: The elfs here seem to be universal or what?

The patches you talk about, are to be copied in Notepad and saved with a .vkp extension. You then follow this tutorial if you have a CID52 phone; this one for CID53.

LordRevan
Yes, a CID52, thanks

So just to make this clear, patches can be used regardless of the firmware stated in it? >_<

No use the patches that are for your firmware. If it is operator branded then you will need to debrand first as most patches wont work with branded firmware
