Full Version: Trouble With Usbflashdriver M600i

Hi All,

I'm following XS++ instructions in an attempt to debrand my M600i.

I'm stuck with the flash driver.. I've downloaded the USBflashdriver.rar file from the XS++ guide/tutorial, but I cant follow the instructions to install it.

I've taken the sim card & memory card out of my M600i, then hold 'c' (or '7') button and plug in usb cable, I get a balloon notification which says "USB device not recognised - one of the usb devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned and windows cannot recognise it"

Now, I'm expecting to see in the device manager a 'new device' or one with a question mark or something, but that doesnt happen. A device does show there however:

-Intel® ICH9 Family USB Universal Host Controller - 2935
- - Sony Ericsson Composite Device
- - - Sony Ericsson Master Port
- - - Sony Ericsson Slave Port

There are no ! or ? next to this. Whilst I dont know if this is what I was supposed to do, I right clicked on the "composite device" and tried to upgrade the driver to the one included in the .rar mentioned above. but it says "the specified location does not contain information about your hardware" Sorry I'm not sure where I'm going wrong..

Now I read somewhere that upgrading the firmware with SEUS will install the flash drivers anyway... but when I run SEUS through the PC Suite I get an error saying something like "This application requires Adobe Flash Player 8 or newer", but I've got Adobe Flash 10 and it still doesnt work.. should I uninstall it and look around for a version 8 someplace?

My PC is running XP Pro SP3

Thanks in Advance..

Have had this 'branded' abomination for a year - itching to set it free..

Ok I have made some progress, but perhaps I'm progressing in the wrong direction? haha..

As I mentioned above, I had read that SEUS would install the approprite USB flash drivers. but couldnt get it to work because of the Adobe Flash Player issue, I then realised it was the IE flash plugin I needed (where it was the firefox plugin I was referring to above) So I downloaded and installed that, ran it, and followed the instructions up to the point where it was about to update the firmware, then closed the program.. but everything went just as it had before "Unrecognised USB device" etc etc.

So next I went through with the firmware update.. thinking perhaps the flash driver would be installed then.. (and to hell with the possibility of upgradng security) but to no avail!! I've updated the firmware using SEUS, but still cant get XS++ to connect to my phone!!

Any Ideas?

Ok I resolved this.. it was just my own stupidity,

The solution, ignore the "A USB Device has malfunctioned" balloon, and:

CHECK THE SMARTPHONE CONNECT BOX in XS++ !!

More problems.. but thats for another thread I guess smile.gif
