Full Version: Customizing A W810i: How To Make A Backup Before?

I'm going to try patches, elfs, xml on a w810i firm R4EA031, I'm asking for a way to make a complete backup before trying, to give me the chance to reset my phone if something will go bad and the phone will start no more. (a sort of acronis true image for windows)
Better would be a only backup that includes everything (personal data, software, firmware) in just a file, if it's possible, or if not, what could I do to have my phone working DEFINITELY after a bad modify?

thanks all

For personal files (contacts, themes etc) use myphoneexplorer

As for repairing a mobile in case it "dies" back up the GDFS first, this should fix anything wrong with the phone (but 9/10 this is actually a last resort, we should be able to get your mobile up and running on the new firmware if you ask for our help), but if you stick to the guide you shouldnt have any problems, and always make sure you have a full battery before doing anything that involves flashing (including backing up your GDFS)

If you need a guide use wally_dogs guide (theres a link in my signature)

Hi there,
I already applied 3 patches with setool2 lite, can I backup my gdfs now or I've to unnstall patches before?

thanks
cchaos
Ideally it needed to be before you start patching

so I've to uninstall them (in the same way as I did install them) and then make the backup or I've to flash again the firmware?

I think it would be ok to back up now.

Although I can remember someone saying that even though the patches have been uninstalled there are still some left over bits in the firmware.

I would just backup and Start modding wink.gifthumbsup.gif

P.S make sure you have a full battery

ok thanks, but why battery must be full? The three patches I've installed needed few seconds to do it...

thanks again for help

If you try doing stuff to your phone on a low battery (eg patching and flashing) it could potentially kill your phone as it starts writing something (or loading loaders) then suddenly the pc finds that it cant write to anything

I recommend full battery, but you should be ok with approx 75% depending on what your doing

Close, but not quite smile.gif

Its if youve flashed the main before removing the patch that that sometimes happens (esp on the elf patches) If you remove the patch properly it will return the data that was originally written over

then to have the phone in original shape I'd flash again the firmware? Is it enough?

You can, but removing the patches should be enough to get it back to "original"
