Hi everyone.

This is my tutorial on how to debrand/rebrand Sony Ericsson A2 platforms in 3 easy steps with 3 simple programs.

MAKE SURE YOUR PHONE MEMORY IS NOT FULL, BACKED UP YOUR CONTACTS TO SIM AND EVERYTHING YOU NEED IS BACKED UP. REMOVE YOUR SIM CARD AND MEMORY CARD FROM PHONE.

First you are going to download three programs and have them ready for use. These are:

-SE CDA File Maker by thaproxinator (me) http://thaproxinator.co.uk/
-A2uploader by laser http://rapidshare.com/files/216770934/a2uploader_v3.rar
-SEUS by Sony Ericsson

-.NetFramework by Microsoft (if you don't already have it) http://www.filehippo.com/download_dotnet_framework_3/

Create the XML file

SE CDA File Maker creates a "customize_upgrade.xml" which contains information that tells your phone that it needs to add it to the GDFS. In this case, it is a CDA change/upgrade. The following steps will tell you how to do this:

1. Open SE CDA File Maker. If you get an error saying "the program could not be initialized", you will have to install ".NetFramework 2.0" or higher.
2. Select your model.
3. You have three options;
a) Select a region and it will generate a default GENERIC CDA.
b) Leave the region blank and enter a CDA.
c) Click ">>" on the right-hand side and select a CDA from the CDA List.
4. Enter a CDA Revision. (optional)
5. Click "Create XML File". "customize_upgrade.xml" will be created.

You are going to need this file for the next step.

Upload "customize_upgrade.xml" to your phone and make the CDA change

So you have generated the file and you want to get on with it? Well I'll make this as short as possible.

1. Open A2uploader.
2. Click "FileSystem Tool". Re-insert the battery of your phone then connect your USB holding '2+5' keys. Release keys '2+5' when A2uploader detects your phone.
3. Browse to "/tpa/preset/custom/". Drag and drop the "customize_upgrade.xml" file to the right pane of A2uploader.
4. Click "Shutdown FS Manager".
5. Disconnect USB cable and turn on phone. You will notice a "Please Wait" prompt. This is when the CDA is changing. When the prompt is gone, turn off your phone.

Finally debrand/rebrand your phone

OK, this is the last step which is the easiest.

1. Open SEUS.
2. Follow the prompts.
NOTE: See the Question and Answer below if SEUS tells you that there is no update available.

If all goes well, enjoy your debranded/rebranded phone!

Q: I have made the CDA change but SEUS shows "No update Available". What could be causing this?

A: This is a problem that many people have when doing the CDA trick for debranding/rebranding purposes. First you need to diagnose the problem.

Two things to check are:

a) Did you copy the "customize_upgrade.xml" to the directory "tpa/preset/custom"?

b) After uploading "customize_upgrade.xml", did you turn on the phone to complete the CDA change (happens when you see the "Please Wait" screen)?

Then if you are still encountering this, it could be either of the following:

a) The CDA Revision you have used is incorrect or is not earlier than the latest revision for the latest firmware that is available on SEUS.

Solution:

Simply try a different CDA or CDA Revision.

b) The current firmware on your phone is the latest (e.g R1FA037)

Solution:

Downgrade your firmware (e.g. R1FA037 to R1FA035) then make the CDA change again.

c) Your EROM color is not RED (e.g. BLUE, BROWN etc.)

Solution:

Unlock your phone first with Aerix. Aerix will automatically change the EROM color for you to red as it needs to do this to complete the unlock. After you have done this, you can now debrand your phone. This does not apply to platforms lower than DB3150.

d) SEUS is detecting your CDA not the way you want it to.

Solution:

Try connecting with 'C' instead of '2+5' or '2+5' instead of 'C'

Above solutions discovered by thaproxinator.

If there is only one CDA suporting my language? (Swedish in NORDIC), I dont want to end up with a telephone without it?
What other CDA can I try?

One thing I don't understand: if I want to add a new CDA number (for W595 orange Fr); I just have to edit the W595 list with the correct number, and the soft will be able to generate automatically the good file for the Orange Fr CDA (so I will be able to rebrand my phone if necessary)?

Found myself the answer: it's yes. and the CDA N° is 1216-2249

the trick doesn't work with my W595s. CDA for Fr generic should be wrong...
If somebody has another CDA ref for Generic France, please could you post it?

Does this still work? I keep getting "No update available" no matter what CDA I put on, and I really hate what Orange have done to my w595.

is there any way i can backup my own customize.xml from my phone first before i do this or are they already availlbe on the internet, just incase it goes wrong, i havent modded a new sony ericsson type phone before

uhh, i dled a2uploader and once i extracted it avg detected it as a virus.
what's "ggsetup" ?

yes, use a2uploader to read your customize.xml. the file will be saved in a folder called "ph_out"


avg is false detecting it. a2 uploader is not a virus. disable your antivirus to continue debranding.
ggsetup.exe is a simple installation file which installs the usb flash drivers for you so you can connect your SE phone in flash mode

err,, no0b question,, what should i put in the CDA box,, i mean base on what? language i use? my country?

you can enter your own cda or select a cda from the cda list

or select a region and the program will generate a default generic cda based on your platform

All FS customizations and flashing can be done with this application, yes.

Has anyone in the UK managed to debrand thier W715 vodafone yet ? I cant do it.

Maybe you need .NET installed

as corman has said, you need ".NetFramework 2.0" or higher. my program uses this to run particular functions.

Hi people, this tutorial doesn't work for me! My W715 can't be debranded because i have the last updated version.
That is what SEUS tell me everytime. Even when i do reinstall on SEUS, the Mobile doesn't get debranded..

So...
What can i do more? About firmwares i've never understand well how that works.. is it secure? I can use that and then later if some update cames out can i make the actualization? I have my mobile unlocked.. its from Portugal Vodafone.

Well it didn't worked.. i uploaded customize_upgrade.xml into /tpa/preset/custom/ turned on the W715 it loaded a little bit turned off, i run SEUS and no updates were available .. so i guess i must try flashing.
i DL this Firmwares I installed it right now but when i start the phone it says that there is a configuration error that i must contact the operator and i searched this forum there is some guy that says to another that he need the custom pack or CDA how does this works? I mean i can get the custom pack in SEUSERS.com but CDA didn't understand well how that works..

What custom packs should i choose from here if there is no one from "Portugal" anyway i can put someone and then upload my language files.. that should be ok?

OK lets see i applied this C905_1209-4769_R6A_GENERIC_NORDIC Custom Pack and.. worked.. but C905 isn't W715 Right? So i don't feel free to say this is a real W715 cellphone with my backup files can i upload has custom pack? i would change some craps in customize.xml right?

In your case you could try unlocking it first with aerix then do the cda trick
or
flash the firmware manually

My Phone is already unlocked, other firmwares must be from W715 versions but there are no Generic Versions only Vodafone crap versions does that mean it makes the phone clean? i guess it does but i gotta try and choose some good custom pack..

But using firmware and then using the customize_upgrade.xml to upgrade it by SEUS does clean the cellphone? it sounds right to do!

I'm gone test it, i'm gone use some old firmware's and then do that customize_upgrade.xml process and see if SEUS upgrades my phone to the last version without vodafone craps.. it just seems to me every time i try to upgrade it by seus, It brings vodafone craps again.. but lets see..

You won't get generic on W715 unless you use nordic

But if i want to get my phone debranded i gotta use a generic firmware right? Because if i use one from vodafone the phone doesn't get debranded?

I'm going to test now some old firmware and then upgrade it with SEUS using the customize_upgrade.xml process to see if i get my phone debranded and free of vodafone.

Edit: About Custom Packs there are no Generic Ones for the W715 version?
I only see theses!
Un-Generic Custom Packs makes my Phone looking like a Vodafone one!
or...? the custom pack can be made by us?

I have some doubts about this.. the firmware is like the version of the sistem custom pack is the default theme
So if i use some old firmware i should get vodafone craps again.. but if i use some generic then that craps go away..
my question is.. Here in the World there is W715 Debranded~Firmwares?

and the Custom Files which is the default? icons and craps.. if i use vodafone one's it doesnt debranded... if i make one excluding the vodafone files(images videos etc..) then i got vodafone buttons without image right? but it doesn't matter since i used some generic firmware that buttons wouldn't obey the vodafone settings and default ones,right??

Edit: 1ºThe Process of Installing an Old Firmware and then upgrading it by SEUS to debrand it doesn't worked!

Now i'm going to try the latest generic firmwares and some custom pack made by me without Vodafone imagens and buttons and craps.

There is no generic firmware for W715 since it's a Vodafone branded phone, however Sweden don't have vodafone so Sony Ericsson made a generic version for Nordic only

So the only way to debrand a W715 is using some Nordic's Firmwares right? And there is any Nordic Custom Pack?

I don't need help thanks! Your program doesn't help me in nothing now. Since it only works for non-vodafone-exclusives my phone is a vodafone exclusive so i don't need that process.. because there are no generic portuguese firmwares avaible in the world or in other language.. except in sweden (nordic)
I need only nordic's Firmwares and Custom Packs to be debranded..

And even the Nordic Firmware isn't equal has the vodafone default firmware.. but screw it..
