Nokia don't have it, I've found out ... glare.gif

When a REALLY REALLY important talk occurs, you might want to record that conversation.

Now in my case, there are times when I talk to grandmother and/or other old people.
And very rarely, they remember things from past that they have NEVER ever talked with ANYONE about.
Wisdom has told them, they ought to tell the world the truth, before it's too late.
____I have tried to record such conversations dicretely, but the f***ing "beep" is really really disturbing !! angry.gif
-: " What is that sound ? " grandma immediately asked. -: "Oh that's nothing! Keep telling me about old days!"
After a while she thought it was her wireless phone going low on battery (she suddenly remembered that could
result in beeping sound) -: " Now I have to quit " she said, as her interesting story was interrupted a second time.
-: "Why is that, grandma ?" -: "Well the battery is weak" she explained. And the whole moment was RUINED !
It was far too complicated to try and explain to her that I was trying to save this unique talk and "don't get distracted
by the beeping - just keep talking natural ... "
GAH!!!

Has anyone tweaked any S-E model to shut up __ _ ( NO beeping),_ while recording phonecalls ??

Or do I have to go to Nokia ... glare.gif

layzworm
the beep is a security thing just like the video camera beep and camera shutter sound but those can be turned off easy so this shouldnt be too hard what model have you got because there might be a patch for it??
gunot12
I believe the beeps on a Nokia can only be removed if you have an S60 with third party apps while on the S40 they can't be removed? My 6288 beeps. Also we need to know your phone model.. I have a patch in my k800i and it's working without beeps.

Hi all , and Big THANKS for all replies ! smile.gif

My model was the K750i ... but it just got stolen ...

Now I'm thinking about the K800i , or K810i.

Great if there are "easy fixes" for the issue of muting the call-recording beep - though some confusion seem to exist? ( re: fire_bird )

Now I have to learn about patching ! cool.gif ____ Oh , well , first I have to buy a new phone ( bit of a problem itself )

I trust you guys w two more questions:

1) Good tip and link for learning about patches ?

2) Buying second-hand ( K800i or K810i ) - - - is there a risk they might work at the time of purchase
but then stop working after - "some time" ( few days ) >>> "the IMEI is locked" ? ?
I'm afraid of that, and that's why I'm having a hard time finding a phone.
Think I've read a few stories about guys who've bought secondhand phones that just quit after a week or so.
Comments ?

Thnx again!
KrX
The problem about buying second hand phones is that they may be stolen phones, or are really in a crap condition.

The problem about buying a brand new official phone like K800 or K810, is that it will most likely be CID53, which also means its unpatchable for free. If that's the case, you either downgrade it to CID52 by paying 25Euros, or you buy a 10Euros QA patch for CID53, which only lasts for that flash.

Thanks again !

(This might be the best site for phones I've come across ! happy.gif )

"...a brand new official phone like K800 or K810 will most likely be CID53..."

How do I know which "CID" a phone comes with ?

Any thoughts about the "works for a while" syndrome for used phones ?

( I might want to get a used one if I'm to modify it anyways )

Cheers !
KrX
You won't know unless you get it into a computer using tools like XS++ and that sort.

Newer phones since I think mid this year started having CID53 (db2020). AFAIK, all db3150 are CID53 and above.

K800i/K810i are all db2020.
gunot12
My k800i was bought last month and it was CID52 tongue.gif
KrX
You're lucky. lol.gif
M
very lucky IMHO... sadly the OP phone got taken

in tnt, most phones are still cid52, unless they are bought online

btw it doesnt matter the CID now apparently... the f/w version is all that matters now
KrX
lol.gif CID53 = unpatchable for free

There's a difference. smile.gif

I really had to LOL at the description and the story. Too bad my grandmother's language is one that i'll never grasp fully, if not then maybe i can ask her about world war II, or about how life was back then, etc. But anyways, i'm using the auto conversation record patch for k810i and it works great. Along with the recording sound mute patch of course.

Simple solution to yr problem, check the date of manufacture in the battery compartment of any k810i you can get a hold of in yr local phone shop. Check for the yyWww beside the large 'CE' logo. I got my k810i in May this year and it was CID 52 (07W36, ie: 2007, week 36). Google for the date cid53 was introduced and you'll get your cid52 phone in no time.

Qwerty12, I have a SE w810i phone with R4DB005. I am totally new to what you have typed there. What are these numbers. I also like to eliminate the beep sound. Could you please give some more instructions.

If you copy that code and paste into notepad, select save as "All Files" then save it as *.vkp, it becomes a vkp patch! That patch though is no good for you unless you flash your FW to R4EA031. Follow this for more info on general W810 flashing/patching stuff. smile.gif
