I'm currently using a w580 loaded with R8BE001. I installed a bunch of patches earlier and I screwed up a bit. Now, I'd like to reflash the firmware. Before that, I'd like to know if all the patches installed need to be removed before flashing to the new firmware. Thanks
You dont need to remove all patches....just reflash....

Does the same apply for elves too?
Yes, once you reflash all patches will be removed.
Your elves remain intact as long as they're in memory card memory.
Everything in phone memory will be gone.

Alright, thanks for explaining
No problem!

(Note that everything in phone memory means everything including sms, java apps/games, phone phonebook)

some patches will remain and u will get bite missmatch on patches that work on other phones..if u dont want to remove all the patches just use recoverybin to create a recovery main,flash that main with far manager then fully flash the phone
@nknwn:
Are you sure it still applies to db2020 phones?
Didn't happen to mine at all.

I just had to start over, and simply reflashed everything (fs and main) with 100+ patches installed, and absolutely no problems whatsoever. DB2020 w580i cid 52.
Just my .02
