Hi, everyone and noobie at modding. Sorry for my topic and I don't know this is the right place for it but I have some problems!
My phone is SE K750i and i want to change it icons with another one, and my problem is with connecting with FAR Manager. First in the discription for changing icons writes that I must have DCU-60 cable. I search image in Google and i found it, but it was another one. This is my USB cable (I have it with buying my phone)
but the one in Google is this
with cylinders of the two ends of the cable. My question is: Is my cable DCU-60, because it doesn't have cylinders. Even thought I'm not sure that is the right USB cable I tried just to connect my phone
to see if it works. When I started the SEFP Plug In of Darkmen (I have version 0.8.0.93) and selected the right settings - Device: DCU-60, Speed: 921600 and Boot Script: k750_w800_CID36, I clicked on "Enter The Matrix". I had 60sec to connect my phone, I started to hold "C" and connect the phone with the cable (before that I switched it off, took off the battery for few seconds and putted it back). Then in the tray appeared "New Hardware - USB Flash Device"! I waited for connecting my phone, the 60 sec finished and in FAR Manager wrote me "Error - Unable to open device: EPIUSB Check for EPIUSB.SYS driver installed" (I tried this procedure two times). I don't know where is my problem in USB cable or drivers (I heard for USB Flash drivers) or incorect plug in version! Please help me and answer me, not to delete my topic! Thanks in advanse and sorry for my bad English!

It don't works! And why I must install SEUS? That program is for updating SE software with the latest. I have R1CAO21. OHH, I forgot.. is my telephone must be fully charged because it wasn't?

first flash your phone with xs++ 3.1 to w800 cid36 and find out your fs and custpack then use xs++ fsx to acess the fs the cable it comes with you can use the one in the first pictures wyour usb cable can you use to flash

But is there any way without flashing my phone to w800, because I don't want to flash it ... just change icons!

installing seus will install the drivers needed...so you can use xs++ to change the menu

and btw..why u don't want to flash it to w800i ?

I'd suggest flashing it to a W800... you'll keep ALL the Cybershot features (good camera), and you'll also gain WALKMAN and MEGABass.

Hmm... I don't know. I'm not sure my telephone will work again properly after flashing. I have one friend who had flashed k750i. His phone was full junk it crashes many times. Sometimes it automaticaly turn off.. and maybe for that I don't want to flash mine ... or maybe soon I'll change one's mind .. but for now I just want to change the icons.

That won't happen to your phone... maybe he just flashed wrong files.

Yes but... Even so I coudn't understand. Can I change the icons without flashing? And for SEUS - I just must to install it or install and connect my phone to change firmware? And last (sorry I bore you): can someone give link for SEUS because I can't find it .

i flashed my phone 1 year ago..i patched it ...i changed almost everything and i never experienced bugs...why ?? because i was very carefull...i didn't flashed wrong firmware,wrong patches....

Personally I wouldnt bother with SEUS: CID36 is PERFECT for the w800: full 4x time. CID49 will change it to 2x zoom

Just use XS++ 3.1, its a lot easier than JD flasher, esp for a noob such as yourself. Hell, not even I have sussed out jd flasher yet

its for noize reducion, pretty usseles because it work wel without it

Search the forum, theres a guide how to back up your FS somewhere using a couple of different programs

Ohh, super! I .. When I installed the icons from the ones in downloads- whan start phone i select menu and writes me
"Error occur in the menu.ml file. This may render the menu unusable" but when press OK the menu appears and works. The problem is that everytime I select menu the error appears. PLEASE HELP!!!!

Right, ok, heres what I would do in your shoes as this will work more than likely:

Flash phone to w800: BUT first research into what firmware version has the SYSGFX patch. If I bothered to read your post properly earlier, esp now its apparent you applied a SYSGFX menu to your phone and your phone is spitting it out like a dummy, or at least trying to

Ideally, post your connection log from XS++ so we can help you find the right firmware etc

You will need:
A GENRIC main and fs for your region: The main MUST MATCH your EROM CID (in your case, CID36 I believe?) and the colour (EROM colour part of your XS++ log)

FS: This MUST too match the version of the firmware: the region is what languages you want your phone to type/read in

Custom pack: Well, if you have XS++ 3.1, you SHOULD be covered for MOST w800 custom packs, which must match the FS region for your phone

When youve done this, then we shall look at applying the SYSGFX patch

That error occurs with a faulty menu.ml.
Either there was error in the xml coding itself, or there is a missing image.
You might notice your activitymenu icons disappeared as well...

Either change to another menu set or revert to your old menu.

i suggest you to flash to w800i because the walkman is awesome! but it's your choise...

Dont you think I know that? Or have you not read WHY I think they needs to reflash it?

Either that or their menu.ml has gone pete tong (wrong), but a flash would also fix that too since I do not believe they have a backup of their orignal icons/menu.ml

Yes find this error in another forum. The problem was that menu.ml wasn't for my phone, thats why I changed it for my and now works.

Hi, today I tried to change my splash and start up screen (without shut down). I loaded XS++, connect my phone and I open tpa/preset/system/settings and delete SPLASH and STARTUP_IMAGE_SEMC and upload my images (they was with the correct resolution 176x220 and same names). I shutdown the FSX and unplug in my phone. When I start it nothing appears just black screen and then the phone is like normal! That is the images I uploaded:
(the splash is created by me, first with Photoshop then with Corel DRAW, it's png)

I'm not too sure what's happening, but you might want to try use another software.

No, no I fixed my bug. It wasn't seriously bug. Just the name of the files SPLASH and the another. They mustn't have extension, like SPLASH.png must be SPLASH, but thank you for your answer!

I thought about that as well, but since you said "same names", I thought you already did it.

Yeah! They was with the same names but my Windows can change the real extension with "Rename". It's coded in the file. When I look it it's just SPLASH but when I paste it in the phone it's SPLASH.png. Thats why I use Total Commander for removing the extension (if someone have the same problem must try it).

In fact, you can just go to My Computer, in the top toolbar, click Tools->Folder Options

Then in the dialog that comes out, click the View tab, then within Advanced Settings, un-check "Hide extensions for known file types", then click OK.

Then you rename normally, and once you're done, you can re-check back the same setting.
