Hello folks, I bought branded Vodafone UK K770i and then had it unlocked in nearby shop. Now I'd like to debrand (and add czech menu to) my phone by flashing it with generic FW. I was digging useful information on the internet and found some stories when people flashed their (unlocked) phones, but after flashing, phones were locked again. Also there was explanation - that was just unlock by patch, erased by new firmware. So now I am little scared - what if my phone gets locked? I read on the internet that there is no free way of unlocking CID53 phone.

What does EROM INFO mean? There is something with SIMLOCK, i guess some info about the technology used to unlock it. Does anybody know? Can I flash my phone without fear of locked phone?

Chances are is that its unlocked by box which 9/10 means: PATCHED

100 % right. Most of the Shops that do the unlocking don't tell you how they have unlocked it. They also don't give you an option to choose b/w patch and full server unlock.
They usually use a way which is cheaper for them but charging the same rate for the end user .
So you will be losing the unlock after flashing if the phone was patch unlocked.

If the phone is unlock by patch, some of the "secret menu" informations are wrong. The secret menu is >*<<*<* . For example, to an V630i unlocked by patch, in "secret menu" it says to total calls time: 14 .

wow, I didn't have an idea there is some secert menu however, there is no "total calls time" in my. is there any chance of changing custom pack without flashing phone's main? I just need to get rid of that crappy vodafone menu, but the unlock patch is in the way

if you just want to change your menu, upload a modded menu with jdflasher!

now you're talking i'll try give it a try for sure, coz the vodafone menu is driving me mad. and i also don't get the point why is vodafone UK mobile refusing my vodafone CZ simcard. that stinks!

i've got one more question. what happens with the "key shortcuts" if i load modded menu into the phone? i mean for example when u press UP on the nav key, u get to the special vodafone live menu - but what would happen with the modded menu inside? are these things also treated?

As long as the modded menu does not remove the shortcut things, and there are no errors with it, it will not modify those shortcuts.

Like for instance I replaced the Camera icon in the menu with the Games menu, but after that the UP shortcut, which links to Camera, didn't work anymore.

i m not quite sure... so what happens if i load in the modded menu, where is for example games menu instead of vodafone live menu. when i press UP with original menu, i get to the vodafone live. if i press UP with modded, i get to games? or it won't do nothing? and does the modded menu adjust only the "main" menu (the one with icons 3x4) or even the other submenus?

Depends, I'm not sure about the UP shortcut.

As long as there is a menu.ml in the file, it contains the things for submenus as well.

got any clue where could i download some of the modded menus? i wasn't very successfull in searching

Modded menu is a menu pack which is modified, modifying the "menu.ml" file.

A flash menu is just a menu made using Adobe Flash, not touching the "menu.ml" file.

Thus, modded menu =/= flash menu.
