This tutorial will show you how to find a main, fs and custom pack without much difficulty.

Main and file system

Go to http://www.seusers.com

Click 'For English site click here'.

On the blue bar, click Downloads.

Click the Firmwares link.

Select your phone model.

Select the firmware version that you require.

Copy the name of the main into http://www.google.com

e.g. K810_R8BA024_MAIN_GENERIC_SM_RED52

Look through the links. Do not hesitate to click Translate this page.

If you do this press Ctrl + F, and copy the main name into the box and find.

If you can't find your main, go back to SE Users and see if another firmware has it. Alternatively, try http://topse.ru in Google Translate.

Or you could use http://iprotebe.cz and click English on the left side bar (scroll down a bit). You have to register for this site but it is still free.

Repeat this process for the File System.

Custom packs

Go to http://forums.se-nse.net/index.php?autocom...s&showcat=5

Choose your DB.

The custom pack has to match your fs. So find one which has user_ or your phone name in it with the name of your file system for DB2010.

e.g. EUROPE_2

If we had a EUROPE_2 one and it was for W810 for instance, then we could pick one such as W810i_CDA102494_2_EUROPE_2 or model_CDA102555_11_EUROPE_2.

For DB2020, we can do the same, except model_ is replaced by HB1-06.

EDIT: This might not be so easy now, topsony has added a feature where you have to log in to see even the names of the firmware, I hope they get rid of it again.

Yes you can, but your languages might not be there.

You should, as much as you can, try to use the fs for your region. the MAIN should be GENERIC_LA.

OK,on the W610i firmwares there are alot.But how do I know which one to pick? I used sony ericsson update service and it told me that i have the latest software installed and that i don't need to update.So,i don't need a new firmware?Does this mean that i can't flash my phone?

No, it means that you cannot update it anymore - its the newest. But you can still flash to your current newest firmware using third-party tools.

You pick whichever ones you need. Tell us where you live, and your phone connection log with XS++.

Also tell us what firmware you want to flash to, if you're thinking of crossflashing.

and XS++v3.1(Darwin)
and i need a customization pack fr this...plz help me out with a custpack link and a tutorial link on how to flash my W550i..

XS++ may have a built-in custpack. When you flash tick the "Customization" box and select from the drop-down list.

Which firmware should I choose, because there's a dozen versions out there R1A, R1B, R1C.......! Plus what customisation pack? There are so many CIDs ... I suppose they must be the same code with the firmware, right? On my K700 it says EMEA 4, on my W810 it sais

EDIT: I tried these firmwares R1CA021_MAIN_EU_2_CL_RED49.mbn and K750_R1CA021_MAIN_EU_3_CL_RED49.mbn

Result: The first seemed the original SE soft, but the phone was still locked* in Orange, most menu icons were Orange, the start-up image could not be set, but was with the original SE logo
Second was Vodafone branded soft

Finaly, facing the prospect of triyng every versions available R1A, R1B, R1D, I chose to put the W800_R1BC002_MAIN_EU_EMEA.bin which I was sure of

*Note: To unlock, on my third try, I used a program of which I read in the tutorials, which created a custom pack .vkp file which I added with SE Tool Lite (don't know why XS++ cand add these files )

There are 2 possibilities to update your FW:

- SEUS, the official FW updater by . Just use this if you want a simple upgrade but don't want to mod anything further
- Manual update with XS++/SETool2Lite: use this if you want more control over the update procedure

It's your choice which program you use

Thats correct, just make sure you use a S_ASIA_LEVAN custom pack (should be one in xs++ which does support CID50 db2010 phones) and youre good to go

Just out of curiosity i tried flashing by selecting only the customization pack and i did not select the main and FS files.

The process went fine and completed successfully.

I am confused . Why do we need the main and FS files anyway if we can install the customization pack without them??

And what changes did the customization pack made to my phone ??

All i can find right now is that some preinstalled themes, ringtones, one game and some videos are missing.

Please enlighten me

the main flashed either to convert to abtain another mobile model or to repair some software problems and even updating, whil the file system for removing the branded things or adding etc.,, BTW the CDA is dependent on the F.S or vice versa...
