Full Version: Dead W810i-Can It be Revived?

So about a year ago my w810i took a nasty spill in some water. I quickly took out the battery and let it dry for about 1 month. Tried it on but it wouldn't power on. I just left it, thinking there is no way to bring it back to life. About a week ago i just wanted to open it up and see whats on the inside, cause its dead even if i damage something its not biggie. So i dismantled everything and let the innards soak in alcohol. There is still some rust left. Now is there any way to bring it back to life? The only indication that its not complete dead is that when i plug in to charge it, i get a red light at the top. I'm thinking perhaps all the software was wiped when the phone came into contact with water and thats why it won't power on.

Charge it for more than 15minutes to see if starts up.

Complete discharged phone keeps red lite on while charging for 10mins appx.

Then replug charger and watch,

I already tried using another battery from a working phone, phone would not boot up. I left mine to charge for 2 hours. Tried starting it, nope nothing. Also the phone is not recognized by the computer when i plug it in via usb.

Try 2+5 instead of C.. If still undetected, Probably the EROM damaged... This may be very very bad... Bad EROM damage mean totally phone damage in my opinion.. Contact your authorized service center... Akhsayy said better buy new phone then trying fixing the EROM...

No, the phone is not completely screwed if the EROM is damaged. You can hold 2+5 to connect to XS++ (connects via deadboot mode), load the appropriate EROM for your phone into the MAIN fimrware box, then press FLASH. The EROM is now flashed to the phone. Then, if it is detected by holding C, proceed to flashing a MAIN, FS, and Custompack.

Tried connecting the phone with XS++ both using C, and 2+5. No response from phone. XS++ says "Cannot open phone communication port". confused.gif

Now I'm afraid that is EROM problem... Check this out... http://www.akshayy.com/sonyericsson/tutori...ive-it-to-life/

Hey... Have you install the appropriate USB-FLASH drivers?! Lol... If you forget this one, it may not a serious problem.. But if you installed it well... Now back to my previous post

Not a good sign

Ive had a k800 handed to me in a simular condition: it turned out that thr GDFS was damaged. Thats why windows doesnt know what your phone is, and why XS++ wont detect it

When it did detect it, I flashed with new firmware, new EROM and even tried using someone elses GDFS (which killed the phone, but I werent too worried as I told the person that it was half dead and chances of me bringing it to life were slim)

I also has the LED light up when it was on charge, and also noticed that the LED was winking at me when I tried to turn it on (keep an eye out for that sympton)

However, with your phone being left for a year (I assume you didnt take it apart to let it dry the inards?) with the battery out, I would suggest that the chances of you recovering the phone are even more slimmer than what I had, esp as it appears the symtons are the same sad.gif

I did not install the flash drivers. I will install them now. My red light on top is solid, it does not blink/wink.

Where can i get the flash drivers?

Never mind i found the site with a quick Google search as well as the drivers.

How do i install the flash drivers. The guide on the site mentions connecting the phone to the pc then waiting for windows and then installing the drivers. My pc doesn't recognized the phone at all so i can't install the drivers.

Followed this guide
http://www.akshayy.com/sonyericsson/tutori...ive-it-to-life/

Was told "Can't Load ID Loader" when i pressed repair/unlock
I tried pressing Read GDFS. I was told "phone pre-boot failed, possible RECOVERY needed"

70% chance that u need to repair EROM.

30% chance you need to change PCB.

Download setool2lite 1.08 frm 4shared, it comes up with flash driver, gg...

And it can repair ur EROM aswel.

Put the EPIUSB.inf and EPIUSB.dll in system32, or if you have ggsemc.sys and ggsemc.inf install it when hardware found-installation wizard came at windows... Choose I'll search in specific location (advanced) and browse to your ggsemc

Well today i installed the flash drivers and tried a couple of options with SeTool, got the same error, but my phone started VIBRATING!!! Is this a good sign? And yes i know PCB is hardware.

Also whenever i plug in the phone now with the drivers windows says USB device not recognized.

**EDIT**
Now my phone is vibrating 100% of the time. Every now and then i hear a squeaky noise. Also when i plug it in to charge i no longer get a red light. WTF is going on with this phone. sad.gif
Also the vibration is very light, so you can't really feel it unless you put the phone to your ear. Also if i start shaking the phone i get the squeaky noise sometimes.

**EDIT** The squeky noise stopped and now the vibration sounds cleaner unlike before where it was a bit harsh sounding.

**EDIT** Vibration stopped when i pressed the camera button, i don't know if it because i pressed it but the vibration stopped just now. Also the redlight when charging appeared again.

**EDIT** Phone started vibrating again, redlight is gone again. Also the vibration feels a lot stronger

Also i can make the phone vibrate if i remove the battery and plug in the phone to the charger.

I think i saw a wink/blink tonight. Still can't connect the phone with my pc.

Also if i plug the phone without the battery to the computer i get a pulsating vibrating
Can you guys point me to the appropriate erom for my phone as well as firmware.

Phone: W810i-Locked to Cingular/AT&T-US
I really wanna bring this phone back to life.

ugabugaz
I do not have msn, i'll make one though. Today i saw the phone winking. The red light would disappear for about 2 seconds. This is only when the phone is plugged in.
