Full Version: Trying to Debrand W580i

I'll start this out by saying that I have no idea what I am doing. I just got a W580i from ATT, and found this website. After reading a lot of threads there I decided that I wanted to try see what I could do to the phone. It seems the first step it so debrand it so that's what I'm trying to to accomplish today.

I installed USB Flash Driver
I installed XS++

I connected to phone with XS++ and discovered

12:27:27| Baseband ID: 9900
12:27:27| Protocol Version: 3.1
12:27:28| Warning: IMEI name does not match GDFS name (IMEI:NULL GDFS:W580)
12:27:28| ...using GDFS name

12:27:28| Platform: DB2020
12:27:28| OTP CID: 51
12:27:28| EROM CID: 53
12:27:28| EROM Color: Red
12:27:28| IMEI: 35256002xxxxxx
12:27:28| Phone ID: W580
12:27:28| Region: CINGULAR
12:27:28| CDA: CDA102774/102 R25A
12:27:28| Firmware Version: R8BE001
12:27:28| EROM: R3A022
12:27:28| Ready for operation!

I see that CID = 53 and thus I need to use JDFlasher to install the new files.

So I installed FarManager.

And then I get stuck. I see that I need to install JDFlasher, but I can not find anywhere that says what/where to download JDFlasher.

Also, I have no Idea which files I need to install on the phone. I suspect that it is one of the below files, but which one do I need?

Far and JDFlasher could be found at here, anyway at "4shared.com".

And you should search a firmware "main_generic" and a "FS" and "CDA" including your language.

Thank you.

I removed my old copy of FAR and installed the one in your link.

I've downloaded the following files:
W580_R6BC002_MAIN_GENERIC_LA_RED53.rar
W580_R6BC002_FS_AMERICA_2_RED53.rar
HB1_06_Gen_CDA102568_106_R8A_GENERIC_AMERICA_1.zip

Is that all I need to download?

Now to figure out how to use JDflasher....

Make sure you install the cid53 rest pack and lastest version of jdflasher for cid53, then to flash enter oflash and just copy across the firmware files main first then fs then enter ofs and copy the custpack to tpa/preset/custom.

Is the version vladutgm linked to the correct one?

Well I decided to just forget about the "CID53 Rest Pack" and give it a go. Worked fine. Yea....Now I have an un-branded phone.

Thanks to all who helped.

p.s. I liked ATT's theme better than the ones that come preloaded. Ohh well, now I can probably make my own theme...
