Did you repair you phone in an authentic sonyericsson.gif Service Centre? It seems to be like those guys tipped you off for an older piece of hardware that (coincidentally, maybe) conformed to work with your W550. Chances are that this was a R&D EROM, but the log doesn't say brown, it says old! tongue.gif old EROM??!)

Or another possible explaination is that the make of that EROM is older than that of your phone. So the rest of the hardware thinks its some younger sibling or something! Same thing with the 'alien battery': the make if the battery was made after the rest of the hardware.

Though isn't it furiating that they're using hardware older than 2 years to fix phones? blink.gif

I have the same problem with my Cingular issued W600i. I think the board or maybe the flex needs changing but SE Philippines, where I am right now, refuses to fix it because it is a US issued phone. I took it to outside cell-repair shops and just like in ram_123456789's case, they gave me unreasonably high repair cost estimates.

So, now, I'm stuck with a defective W600i (but at least, the walkman player works) , until I find a shop that can fix it at a reasonable price.

@ram_123456789

you can try searching a new or used but functioning PCB on ebay. I've been searching for parts there (for my phone in case I'll need it) and found a few. You might find the one you need there.

i altready solved as i charged the repair guy for giving me a faulty PCB... and finally he changed and now i dont have any problems..

okay, heres what i think has happened with regards to the IMEI. You got a circuit board outta different phone, surely the IMEI is stored on the GDFS on the circuit board? so if you have a different circuit board you have a different IMEI????

I had the alien battery problem with a K700i a few years back. It was a genuine battery (it worked in another K700) and the battery charged, it just didnt stop and the battery readout lied to you afterwards so I never had any idea how much charge was left. I traded it in for a W800 since my contract was up and have never heard of such a problem again....

i think its all happens due to the PCB..its not a genuine SE board..
and i am damn sure about it also..
