its a hardware problem mostly caused by the flex cable being flexed to much

or you might not have it connected right for example unplug it and plug it back in

so i assume the flex cable is the cable that connects the screen to the main board in the phone....well i havent touch it....but i'll try unplugging it and reconnecting it and see if it helps...

*update*
so I found out the the flex cable is the black one behind the screen, i tried moving it around a little bit, making it straighter and what not, but i still have the same problem.

any other suggestions? or do i have to take it to be repaired..
i only got the phone 2 days ago brand new D=

ok so i've played with the cable up to the point now where the screen turns on but it's just black <_<

but this may be an opportunity, if the screen is black i think i can just tell them that the phone they gave me is garbage and get it replace at the rogers store this way they dont see that it's debranded. any other advice?
sry for the double post btw
Nick14
reflash it with the latest firmware
aerialace44
i had the same problem, didn't work to re flash.
had to take it back to ATT and get a new one. like hours after i got it (lol).
I think it happens to one in every like 100 phones, so it SHOULD work on the next phone, but if ur to freaked out to re flash the next new one (i was) don't do it!

t's a firmware problem with s500 and w580 but flash to R8BE001 and it will work
eh-jhey
well rogers is sending me a new 580i in 2-3 days, i told them the screen just stopped working by itself <_< so the guy say's he reported it as D.O.A(dead on arrival) =D, now if it's 1 in every 100 phones.....i wil lthink about reflashing it, and ya i am a bit scared <_<....but i really want teh kewl menu's xD

anyhow if i do I'll try flashing with that new firmware

thx guys
