Here is a little trick by  forever_8  when creating menus...

CODE
while resizing icons make sure to keep the aspect ratio of the original...for example for unselected if the original icons is 128x128 resize it to 34x34...

now to make the menu symmetric use transparent icon of resolution 55x34 and add the resized icon to the middle of it and flatten them to form one icon...

do the same with the selected icons...but the resolution of the transoarent icon is 64x42...

adding layers and creating the transparent icons can be done by photoshop or paint.net....

Later Advice......

because the icon has to fill the 55x34 resolution as the original sony ericsson icons...

so by creating those transparent icons u fill the space without ruining the looks of the menu...

if u don't fill those spaces the menu will be a bit to the left...

Hope this helps.

Try to understand , you are not resizing icons actually. You are only filling empty spaces and this will center them.
Do not resize the occupied/filled pixels.
