My 580i's buttons are starting to crack, so I called in for a warrantied replacement. I de branded it a few weeks ago, so I don't know if they will care and for whatever reason not give this replacement phone to me for free. I can't imagine they would not replace my phone's cracked keys just because I changed the firmware, but I wanted to be sure.

1: Will AT&T care?

2: Where do I get the correct files for rebranding it? I'm in the USA.

I'm not having any luck finding what I need.

What all do I need? Do I need the three new files, or is it only 1 file that actually affects the branding? I have the MBN and FBN files from the reflash, do I use these over, and just use a branded AT&T usa custom pack? Where do I find a branded AT&T custpack?

My buttons are cracked too.. I'm not sending it back though, I don't want to lose my phone for like 6 weeks so... There's a way to buy a new keypad though, I've seen some on ebay (they were for s500i but it's the same actually). You'll need a t6 screwdriver too.

New phone came in today. They actually send me the phone, and I send them my old one back within 2 weeks, so no down time. And honestly the broken buttons aren't a big deal to me, it's the speaker again. Sometimes when people call me, it sounds like they are talking with their tongue out, impossible to understand them.


What's most important is: do you think they will charge me for the new phone because I de branded the one I'm sending back to them?


Secondly, you say no "free" downloads.. what are the sites that have the files I need for a price?

Also, what was the point in the back ups in XS++ and SETool2Lite if I can't use them to get the phone back to how it was?

I doubt they will charge you, Topsony charge you but you can get past the charges by being a member for some months and a certain amount of posts. The backups were for CID52, so they were needed. They won't be needed if your CID is now 53

I just received my new w580i from AT&T (I am in the US) today. It came flashed with the following....

Firmware: R7AC001
LAC/CID: A401 / 0000753D

I am not too concerned with unlocking but I would like to unbrand so I can get the benefits of no DRM'd mp3 ringtones, etc.

Is there something out there that can do this without screwing it up? smile.gif

You need to flash generic firmware. First post an XS++ log.

The new phone is CID 52.

So where can i find what I need? Just need to put the firmware from the new phone on the old. Since I have a phone with the files I need, is there a way to extract the files from the phone or no?

You're lucky you got a CID52.

He's asking you which part of your phone gives it the region CINGULAR.

The MAIN or the FS?

@steady: His old phone had the AMERICA_2 region, as seen from the log, so I guess you should give him AMERICA_2 region files, too.

the FBN file from the reflash was the file that had the AMERICA_2 in the file name, so I assume the FS would be the one deeming the region. I'm not too familiar with this stuff if you haven't gathered that yet.


@jordan: thanks but I already have those files, I'm looking for the cingular branded files.

I really need to get this phone out so they don't charge me for it. I'm just going to package it up and send it out as is if I can't get this resolved by tomorrow. Much better chance of not getting charged if I send it in as is than if I don't send it at all.

I just went ahead and paid for the ATT custpack. Flashed it and it's in the mail now.

I do have unlimited access to all SE Users files for 3 days though, so if anyone needs anything, I'll download it for you and send it via email or upload it somewhere else for download.

2 more days. Great way to get out of a couple bucks if you need something.
