Hi there.

I'm new to all of this - so I was wondering if someone can point me in the right direction smile.gif

I have 2 Sony Ericsson K800i's - one on the network '3' and one on 'O2'.

The one on the 3 network is ex-contract and the O2 is pay as you go.

Upon browsing the internet I've come across XS++ and a few tutorials (mainly on your site). I've gone about backing up the GDFS on both phones but haven't been brave enough to attempt anything yet. I've found a few guides explaining how to flash both firmware segments - but have a query. My friend told me that by flashing the firmware, this doesn't actually make phone 'unlocked' to all networks. It's just done in order to de-brand O2/3's stuff.

Is this correct? All I basically want to do is make both of these phones open to all networks - de-branding would be nice but isn't a necessity as such! I'd really appreciate it if someone could point me in the right direction! Hope I don't get flamed for asking something which may have been asked before.. (or because i'm a total n00b)

Last but not least, how would I know which firmware is specific to my phone exactly.. I'm afraid to go ahead incase I end up breaking both phones. I'm from the United Kingdom if this is of any help.

Hope to hear from you guys!

Will this be OK to follow? (been browsing/searching around)

Correct guide. Use europe2 fs and main generic r8bf003. This will debrand if you just flash the firmware but to unlock you need to read that guide.

So these 2 firmwares are what I require (just to confirm):

If I do end up bricking the phone, is there any chance I'll be able to recover it?

Thanks!

[EDIT - Also, should I run XS++ before anything and update to CID 52?]
