How do I unlock a W200i?

I have been reading various sites on how to unlock a W200i - Firstly, is this the same as a W200?

I do not know the CID or firmware etc (its my nephew who wants and it could possibly make me the best Aunt in the world IF I could do it for him). Anyway, Can it be done??? I have a feeling it's NOT possible...Can anyone advise?

I have SETool v1.10 & v1.11, Simox patcher, Can I use any of these??? I have downloaded many .rar files with the header W200 - Not sure what they will be capable of as I have not actually opened them up or even if I actually need these files???

Do I need to debrand to a generic firmware? and then apply a patch unlocker? (I don't know what the phone details are yet??)

Can I change the firmware completely i.e. DB2012 to DB2020 on this W200i???

Or does anybody have any idea what I need and where I can get what I need from i.e. software.

Sorry so many questions but It would be very much appreciated if any help is given.

Ok, you need to get a profile of your phone, you can use SeTool2 Lite's "IDENTIFY" Option to find out your firmware. the I in W200i stands for international, i.e languages, the other variant is W200c, which has Chinese only. You can unlock either firmware, branded or generic, as long as you have the branded .mbn file. I seriously recommend generic firmware, it'll make things easier. That means, you'll have to flash a generic MAIN, and then use the Simox app and patch with SeTool. DB2012 and DB2020 are platforms, not firmware . Platforms are basically the 'chipset' of your phone. I recommend you also download XS++, for safer flashing. And take a look at the XS++ General Usage Guide,

I have read the info but it appears to be about debranding rather than unlocking.

I have managed to get 2 new FS and MAIN and Generic (R4HA014 & R4JA011) for the W200i but I can't find a patch anywhere...been looking all day!

Can you help here?

Its a W200i which I want to unlock for my nephew and don't know the 'inners' (coz he hasn't brought it, yet) so I am getting prepared or trying...found debranding with help from one of the forum member THANK YOU.

But I am struggling ever so much to find anything re UNLOCKING...Can I some how downgrade the W200i so I can have the desired CID etc???

Or would you know how I could do it?

Ok, to make this short, you have to DOWNLOAD the firmware, then FLASH it, then make the unlocker patch from the SAME DOWNLOADED firmware, and then patch it.
Do you know what firmware you're using? You really need to have the phone with you right now in order for us to be of any help

A bit simpler please. I have downloaded an FS, MAIN and GENERIC file all (I believe relating to one another).

I have SETOOL V1.08, v1.10 and v1.11, I also have XS++ v3.1 and 3.2, I also have SIMOX v2.1

Which do I use?

At present my thinking is: DEBRAND to my chosen FS_AMERICA, MAIN_GENERIC AND CXC1250719_GENERIC (I have 2 RAHA014 & RAJA011 - Which is best??)

Then do I use SIMOX to create the .vkp? If so, Do I use the MAIN or FS or GENERIC.

Please help....I'm nearly there???

Uninstall XS++ 3.2 for a start, that is not working and could damage your phone. Main is the generic file right?

Use setool2lt v1.11 and put main and fs files in. In miscellaneous files, put the unlock vkp file. You need to use simox to generate it, by pressing ... next to the gap for the main in simox and all the rest of the details should fill themselves in. Press confirm or whatever and look in the vkp folder of simlockpatchgen. This is the file that needs to go in miscellaneous files. Flash and you are done! Use RAJA011 because it is newer.

CXC1250719_GENERIC is a custpack. I prefer to use XS++ to flash firmware, because it customises automatically
MAIN= .mbn file
FS= .fbn file
Make sure you don't confuse the two when you flash it. And there after you can patch it with SeTool. Or you can do all 3 at once, but I'm not sure if SeTool customises each flash.

By the way, it doesn't customize automaticaly with all phones, only those in the dropdown box but I'm pretty sure w200 is in it.

I am pretty sure I have it now....Now as this phone is a W200i Possibly DB2012 - I can change all this by reflashing to

RAJA011 FS_AMERICA (or Should it be EUROPE, live in the UK) and MAIN_GENERIC and a CXC1250719_GENERIC (DO I NEED THIS?)

For DB2020, in XS++ 3.1 a message should pop-up when you open it saying Upgrade to CID52? Yes you need a custom pack but you could customize it after using XS++ instead to save hassle.

Platforms can't be changed. Only CIDs can be changed, but that's on DB2020 phones and after ONLY, and they can only be upgraded. You can chose whichever FS you want but it's basically all about Languages and stuff. All the American FS have English so unless you looking for a particular language, it's all good. And the CXC1250719 is a custpack. Flash with XS++ and you can select it from the dropdown menu. After that, load the MBN in the MAIN box, the FBN in the File System Box, then go and make a warm cup of tea and relax your fears of being permanently locked

if its db2012 cid52, then it cannot be patch unlocked and will require a full unlock

You could ask your operator for the unlock code and say you are going abroad They still might ask for money though depending how long you have been a member.

If it is DB2012 and CID49 I think it can be done, but I'm not sure if DB2012s come in CID49
And relax hey, phone moddin' can get frustrating, but we aren't yet sure of the phone's profile. The could still be good

Lets make things easier:

w200 is db2012 (guarenteed!) cid52 red IF it is a new w200 they are getting, which CANNOT be patched. I know this as Ive got a new w200 and made it genric. In fact, if it could be patched, it would also be unlocked and look even better than it does now

The ONLY way the phone will get unlocked immediatly is by box using Setool2full IF you want to do it yourself

Ya have to buy SeTool 2 Full. It needs either logins or a dongle I think.
And yes you can debrand it by flashing generic firmware
