In this tutorial i will tell you how to convert your internet button, to a button that will restart your phone when pressed.
1.
We need the image that will cause your phone to restart, you will find the download at the end of this post
2.
Create a Folder Named ''crashes'' in Images, copy the image into this folder. Put it on your phone memory.
3.
Go to ''settings'',''internet settings'',''internet profiles'', then go to ''more'', ''advanced'', ''change homepage''. Change the homepage to: file:///usb/image/crashes/shutdown.gif
4.
Press Your internet button and the image should display, your phone should then restart.
PLEASE NOTE **** This may not work with branded firmware.
Nice trick! Works on my K700
Good job, worked as a charm for my K810i.

Nice to hear of your success
So, thats an image, that restarts the phone, but why?
The image is played to the end and then the phone restarts.
I think theres something with the loop setting for the .gif graphics.
But how exactly does the graphic work? And, of course, could there be any damage on my phone after using it?
So many questions - but there is one, i would also like to ask: Works this graphic on other phones from other brands? (Like Motorola?)
Some answers would be nice!
Anst
(By the way - my W910 restarts too

)
Hello,
I copied image to phone, and it really restarts it. But I'm having problems with placement/link. I don't have Images folder on phone, only "Pictures" (it's K750i). How do I link that (file:///usb/image/crashes/shutdown.gif) What would be the URL for files on memory stick (I'm not even sure I see phone memory when I connect my phone to PC, only memory stick)
Thanx,
D.

use
/tpa/user/image ---> pictures folder
instead of usb/image folder bcoz u have k750 and the location is stored inside ur phone u cannot see directly from phone browser

No i don't think theres and risk to the phone by using the image

Sony ericssons can't read the image properly and this like some how crashes the 'RAM' and the phone restarts.
dalanik, did you get it working?
to use it on your phone
you would go to the internet browser on the main menu, once you had set it up

if you do press it it just restarts and goes back to the desktop, then if you have automatic keylock on it'll re-lock itself providing you don't press anything

This is a really old trick. It will work on all SE phones capable of displaying the gif format. It won't mess up the phone, but the restart link is quite useless, because if the phone is stuck, pressing it wouldn't even open the image. Lastly, this only works with se phones.
