hi.
i'm kinda new to this whole "debranding" thing.
i've successfully flashed my AT&T w580i using this tutorial:

all seemed fine after it was all said and done, until i tried using mms.
i've searched all over for help setting up my wap and mms profiles, but nothing seems to work.
but it seems like everyone who has had trouble with this has ultimately figured it out - except me.

i tried doing the whole AT&T/SonyEricsson thing where they send you the settings.
and i also tried using different proxy settings, server settings, and MediaNet profiles.

then i realized that i used an ASIA firmware to flash my phone.
does this have anything to do with my mms not working??

and if so, what FS/MAIN/CUSTOM combo would you recommend for flashing my w580i here in the USA??
i've heard of AMERICA_1, but i'm still new to this and need some help.

try getting your MMS settings from your operator

ya, i'll probably end up doing that.
but does anyone know if the ASIA firmware has anything to do with it??

ASIA firmware has nothing to do with it, its just that you flashed your phone and all your settings are gone...
even if u used AMERICA1 the same thing wud hav hapnd. nway, call up att and get the mms settings from them.
ah i think i saw the settings somewhere here at SE-NSE, search for it...........

i think the difference between asian and american firmwares are the encodings , asia supports russian & japanese letters i think

Asia have the chinese characters, not russian nor japanese.

The only difference between the firmware is language.
