Hi everybody
This is my very first post and also very first time to attempt modding/flashing my W810i

I have experienced Motorola L7 flashing many times but for Sony Ericsson is fist time.

So I need some help regarding:

1. Backing up my original Firmware
2. Selection of best suited modded firmware
3. What to do if some thing goes wrong while flashing
4. How can I upload the available drivers and patches
5. The first step I will have to do before flashing

I have downloaded XS++ and got connected with the phone and what I get is as under:

22:20:14| XS++ v3.1 (Darwin) Ready !

The FIRST thing you should post, is your phone model... smile.gif
rizwan65
Sorry
My phone model is W810i

I have also updated the first post
Snowiffic
1. Er, that is quite complicated, if you don't have a branded phone (operator), then this shouldn't be needed at all.
2. R4EA031 for MAIN, and then R4ED001 (as I remember) FS...
3. Nothing goes wrong while "flashing" your phone (; and if it does, reflash it! smile.gif
4. XS++ to upload drivers & other stuff (NOTE: XS++ can NOT delete folders!) (A tutorial on uploading files can be found in the "Firmware Tutorials" section here at se-nse)
5. Backing up your GDFS, the GDFS is UNIQE for each phone, NEVER EVER EVER write another's GDFS to your phone.. NEVER! (You backup your GDFS, by opening XS++v3.1, connect your phone, go to "GDFS" in the tabs, then press "Backup GDFS", then wait, after XS++ is done backupping, there will be a new folder named "Backup" in your XS++ directory, there will be a file in it, this is YOUR GDFS.)

Just in short. smile.gif

This is not a branded phone (No Operator Logo) I got box pack from market without onnection
rizwan65
I have backed-up m GDFS right now and I got about 101KB file named W810_35945701xxxxxx_GDFS_BACKUP.BIN in backup folder
Corman
That seems to be fine.
rizwan65
Do I need to apply some RSA patch before starting any flashing etc
Corman
RSA? never heard of it, and I customized my W810 to the max smile.gif. So I reckon you don't need it wink.gif. Flashing is to be done via XS++, patching via SETool2 Lite.
rizwan65
Are there any pre-modded Firmware packs available or I will have to patch one by one

I have been checking in Download section.
Are these "Customization Packs" full modded firmwares or I wil have to get them somewhere else

And should I have to get 2 different files as Mr Thunderbird said "2. R4EA031 for MAIN, and then R4ED001 (as I remember) FS..."
docmagoo2
youll find SE's not quite as customizable as MOTOROLA but theyre much better phones. FAR more user friendly that MOTO's. And well thanks to a lot of the guys @ SE-NSE we're able to customize more and more!

welcome to the dark side!
Corman
Well, these ModPacks don't work with me, but it could be different for you. I use R4EA031 as a Main, and R4ED001 as my FS, so that should be alright. Remember to upload a custpack if you flash the FS.
Patching can be done in one superpatch by adding different patch in a program called "PatchCombiner". I don't use that program however and apply any patch one by one smile.gif.

Well, you CAN use SETool 2 Lite for flashing, but it's A LOT more complicated... XS++ is extremely easy to use... a 5 year old could do it provided he knew what to put in the right boxes.

So, here are programs that I use, and my uses for them:

XS++
-Flashing
-Adding Files/Deleting Files
-GDFS Backup

SETool 2 Lite
-Patching
-Copy phone files on phone to computer via scripts
-GDFS Backup

It is important to have a XS++ GDFS backup and a SETool 2 Lite backup, because each backup can only be restored via the program that backed it up. If I were you, I would get my feet wet in the modding world by adding a few flash menus. This is done by using XS++ FSX feature. Then, add a few patches with SETool 2 Lite, and then after you are familiar with all this stuff, modify the files within the phone and free up some memory by deleting files you don't need it.

Thanks a lot. You people are really helpful
Plz also let me know can I download or backup the files from my phone to PC i.e if I want to change the camera driver then how do I backup the original one. I have tried XS++ but the download option there is ghosted. Only upload option is active

Yes you can flash different fs and main...

But I would recommend installing EA for MAIN (Patches) and ED for FS (because as far as I know, it's the latest FS with ALL regions)

Also should be noticed, that not ALL combinations of MAIN/FS work..
