Since i'm TOTALLY noob about it, i'm going to write into this post the first steps of a new costumer willing to bring his phone to live. Not only cause i'm full of my ego, but trying to help the ones that are in the same situation.
A little warning, i'll try to link any guide and resource avaliable on this board and i'll try to explain (if i can) their obscure point for a TOTAL noob; anyway i won't be able to cover every single point so i'd like to introduce the first chapter of this post...
BASIC KNOW-HOW
-Bookmark google (www.google.com .. .it .de .fr .ihopeyougotthepoint) <-- aka "GR" the google rule
-This board has a usefull tool on the upper right side of the page, this amazig tool name is "search" click it and it will work exactly like google.
-READ THE MANUAL, that little book into the box, yes look carefully it's on paper, and you can read it, it has some usefull bla bla bla.. you know.
-I'm italian, so i'm probably going into serious misspell problems. you are warned.
PRESS PLAY ON TAPE!
Ok you got your phone, you turn it on.. and?
I think that you, as any other new costumer, probably want the latest software installed, the latest OS. Its name is "firmware". Basically it is what makes your handy work (or not work). Messing with it means death, kaput, finito! (not true, but we are noobs, we are not ablo to make something work even if it is ok, so even try to imagine to make work something not working.. nonono)
So:
-Check your Firmware Version:
Go to the Service menu: Right * Left Left * Left * Left (well "*" means press *, the button, you know)
-Compare your version with the latest avaliable:
you can use the "GR" or click this LINK, ok not a Big discovery, but every latest firmware makes some noise, by the way if you really can't find any you can ask for one HERE or HERE.
-Update your Firmware:
to complete this task i really think we noob should read carefully this two guides, i'd like to call bibles, since they hide inside themselves the Holy Graal of the "eternal salvation of your handy":

i'd like to underline a really important step you have not to understimate

*WARNING* flashing a GDFS that did not originally come from that exact handset may have severe consequences. By exact handset I mean your handset, not your friends unlocked handset, YOUR HANDSET!
So please please please remember to backup YOUR GDFS!!

Well now our toy is updated and running, but it's so.. standard, and in our veins there's no mid-level user blood. So what can we do to customize our phone? to push it to its limits? well:
- Improve/Change camera settings (coin1)
- Improve/Change display settings (coin2)
- Improve/Change audio settings, MP3 reproduction, service sounds (coin3)
- Improve/Chance menu, fonts and misc. icons (coin4)
- Improve/Change theme, intro-outro movie (coin5)
(- something else i'm not aware of work in progress) (coin6)

The very strenght of this phone is the camera. It actually works fine even with the buit in drivers, it works godly after the hard work of coders that daily work on improve the camera results; but please keep in mind that you are handling a really really good camera phone, that's NOT a digicam.
Ok so what offers the market today?

-(updated and complete list of cam drivers, and their websites: WORK IN PROGRESS
They are updated insanely often, so it's useless to post their version now, in this case the GR and the search button are really handy. I suggest even to read any thread you can find about those camdrivers cause they are full of sample pictures, which are the best way to decide betreen a driver or another.
-install camdrivers:
1. extract the zip file of the chosen camera drive
2. download & run xs++
3. plug out the battery
4. press connect on xs++
5. plug in the battery and connect your phone into your pc holding down C
6. click FSX button on xs++
7. click start FSX on xs++
8. browse into ifs/settings/camera
9. click upload
10.find camdriver0.dat into the extracted folder
11.double click camdriver0.dat. it will upload and replace the existing camera driver
12.press shutdown and then press yes
13.press close and disconnect phone
Back to school if you want to patch!
Ok ow we should be pretty confident and skilled using xs++ since we have changed any driver existing on earth and beyond. now we are ready to patch our phone further and customize it even more.
With xs++ NO!!
we are going to read other lines and lines again cause we have to learn to use another program. I suggest to use (keep in mind i'm noob) setool.

, also JDFlasher is great for doing FS work as you actually see the files and can browse the Internal FS alot better and can see the files your backing up from FS (when entering via qa2020 after you apply Quick Acess Patch), you need to know the Internal FS a little more intamatly with SETool2 Lite when backing files up with it (well, we are all phone lovers 
), but I think JDFlaser is more noobie friendly as the chances of making mistakes is alot less and is a great tool to learn more about your phone with
