Full Version: Looking to Make a Nicer Theme for 580i?

I'm looking to make some simple, but nice looking themes for my 580i. I've noticed that a lot of the .thm available online were really simple and really didn't do much other than having some .jpg of interest. I'm curious if this is just a limitation of the program from SE's developer site or if it's just a rush to create a simple theme to slap on your phone.

I was also wondering if there was a way to change the icons that the navigation uses for the phone. Does the phone need to be unbranded? I ask because I wanna make a nice looking .thm that any 580i user could use, regardless of branding. Is it absolutely impossible to get a flash theme working on a branded phone?

I'm still reading through a lot of the forum's past postings on the subject regarding the w580i and flashing and I'll collect as much information I can, but I'm always looking for any additional information that anyone might have on the subject.

and yes, I'll be sharing some of these .thm for the SE-NSE forum users to use on their phones as well.

For a flash theme, the phone MUST be debranded. Most, if not all provider branding does not allow for flash menus. I am not sure about the phones with UK provider branding, but in the U.S. and Canada, the branding prevents flash menus.

As for making them, there are a few sites to check out. www.lasyk.net is one, and they have their own theme creator called my Theme Creator, which I find to work much better than the SETC. There are also theme creating tutorials posted in the forums, so search around there.

To see what is possible with some time and effort, check out www.etheme.net and look in the forums there. Some of the best themes ever created for SE phones come out of that forum.

Remember, practice makes perfect, you won't make the worlds best theme your first time out. It takes some time, some practice, some skill, and a good eye. Search around those forums, and read up.
