ok, i had been researching debranding my Rogers w580 when i first got it.. and got lazy
and never went through with it.

current firmware is R6CA001 CID52.
Last week, my phone started randomly locking up; shutting off.. and when powering back on telling me that "a sim card is not inserted"

after speaking with rogers/sony ericcson support, they tell me this is a very rare problem..
GREAT.

they want my phone for like a month, to fix which is ridiclous. I hooked my phone up to the computer and tried the online sony update. but it says my phone is fine.

If i change firmware to the latest generic/debranded R8BE001 CID52.. will this fix my problem? or should i just send it in to these crooks under warranty. .. ?

i would definitly send it to them to fix the problem. Souns like a hardware malfunction to me, rather than a software failure. But, in the end, it's up to you wink.gif

well, if i remove the battery, and reinsert it works again.

but will eventually end up giving me the same error.
sometimes like 5 minutes later.. sometimes 5 hours.

I never heard of R8BE001.
The rogers firmware is R6BE001.

R6CA001 is the firmware i got with my phone... and is still on it.

i just used the R8BE001 firmware because it is the newest and i figured the newer firmware would have less bugs.

R8BE001 is the latest firmware from what I understand. Try updating firmware, see if this is still an issue for you.

test to putt a piece of paper under the battery to press up the simcard, cuz thats what i had to do before..
when my phone restarted a cople of times and said that there were no simcard. btw

but maby it is a firmware error with the new R8BE001 and not the simcard connection.
