Hi I wanted to know that how do I update the firmware. I read the guide in this forum but I do not understand the following:

1) If I don't have a CID 52 phone am I supposed to upgrade?
2) I have a generic firmware ( I think generic as it does not have anything in it linking it to a service provider) and it is R!GB001
3) I want to upgrade to R1KG001 (It's the latest I checked). What do I do?
4. In the guide it was mentioned that you shouldn't get mixed up with FS and MFS ( flash file system and main file system as I assume it to be) so what is the difference between these?
5. In the guide it is also mentioned that you have to customize after reflashing, what is that for?
6. I tried to update via SEUS nearly a thousand times now, but everytime it gets stuck, not freeze r crash or anything, what happens is the mouse becomes a hourglass and rotates at the reigon selection screen, is there anyway ariund it (gets stuck when i select a reigon. And I am using dial-up, does this have any relation to it getting stuck)

And does anyone know where I can find camera drivers for W830i? It is basically the same as W850i the difference is that 850 works on UMTS and has no EDGE, whereas 830 works on GSM but has EDGE, but otherwise they are exactly the same [atleast in looks, camera[both are 2 megapixel, and have the same menu interface] walkmanand other funcionalies).

I did find 850 accoustics and camera drivers. Now will these work on 830 or should I not take the risk of putting these in 830. And what are accoustucs anyway? One more thing, how big is a GDFS Backup, and is GDFS the firmware? I think that I shouldn't waste anymore of your time, I've already written a lenghty question, sorry for that. Thanks.

1) If you have CID51, then yes. If CID49, then no, XS++ Auto ask you about upgrade when you connect your phone.. press 'YES'.

2) Generic file should look something like W830_R1GB001_MAIN_GENERIC.mbn

3) Open up XS++, connect your phone, and in MAIN FIRMWARE, chose the generic main file.. mentioned in "2)"..

4) MAIN = Like windows on a computer, the Operative System... also contains files. (like system images)
FS = Like harddisk on a computer, contains user files and other system files.

5) So your phone know which model it is, and so on.

6) May be thats why, the SEUS downloads a lof of stuff?, or maybe a bug ?

The only reason to change your CID is if new firmware requires it or your current one has not been cracked. If you have CID49, keep it. If you have CID51, upgrade.

so basically, I'll have to download two firmware files to upgrade my phone, the W830 Main file and then the W830 Flash File. Then After that I'll have to customize it.

There's one more thing I have to ask, can I add any 240x320 resolution phones menu.ml file on my W830i? and can I use W850i camera drivers(W850 is exactly the same phone, 850 is just 3G whereas 830 is not)? Thanks.
