I recently had my W850i that was locked and branded on oragne unlocked at my local phone shop. All worked fine but I hated the stupid orange load logos and branding, so I recided to follow this guide:

My only problem is now after a sucessful debranding / flashing it loads with Sony Ericson screens but the phone always says "please insert correct sim card".

Has flashing the phone re-locked it on orange?

Did I select the wrong CDA (Central Europe Generic)?

How do I get it to accept my Tesco Mobile sim card (which as I understand uses 02 network).

Any help would be MASSIVLY appreciated, this is as much a learning excersise for me as saving money walking down to the shop and paying some one else.

Sounds like it has been patch unlocked and by debranding it you have relocked the phone. i think the only way to unlock it again is through a paid service like Davinci or the like.

Will any local phone unlocking shop be able to unlock it again (e.g. take it back to the shop and hand over another £10), or has debranding it made the job more complicated?

Just use orange... I dont like it much either but hey. I debranded the same phone from orange. Although will carphonewarehouse etc. patch unlock or something?

by local phone shop i didn't mean carphonewarehouse sorry, i meant local "independant" shop

just to confirm, carphone warehouse, phones 4 u, o2, t-mobile, orange etc shops wont do unlocking.

i tend to find that the independent shops with loads of facias/covers/2nd hand phones etc do unlocking

also, it wont be anymore complicated to patch unlock it

Just want say another massive thanks, just had my phone unlocked again (another £10) and its all been sucessful! its now fully debranded, I now have working access to the radio and the file manager! also the whole phone seems to room faster.
