NEW GMAIL IMAP SETTINGS FOR MOBILE EMAIL CLIENT IN SONY ERICSSON WITH SECURITY CERTIFICATES (IN MY CASE W810I) ........for those who are new ..others who are using old pop server can also refer this
Checklist : please enable imap in your online google account
Easiest is using your wap browser and going to m.gmail.com but you already knew that and thats not why you are here... what you need is to get it working using your phone's email client. So lets get started...
1.- Setting up your account.
Set up your email account as follows (if you don't know how to do this i'd suggest reading that little book that came with your phone lol)
Email Address: your email address (eg. nileshzabak@gmail.com)
Connect Using: GPRS Internet
Connection Type: IMAP
Incoming Server: imap.gmail.com
Username: your GMail username (eg. nileshzabak@gmail.com) (including '@gmail.com')
Password: your GMail password
Download: According to your needs
Outgoing Server: smtp.gmail.com
Username: your GMail username (eg. nileshzabak@gmail.com) (including '@gmail.com')
Password: your GMail password
Encription:
Incoming Server: SSL
Outgoing Server: TLS
Incoming Port: 993
Outgoing Port: 465 (587 OPTIONAL BUT DOES NOT WORK FOR ME)
2.- Certificates.
Now you need to download some certificates to your phone.
You need to send them to your phone using either Bluetooth or Ir (no USB)
Get the certificates from here:
Equifax_Secure_Certificate_Authority.cer
ThawtePremiumServerCA.cer
ThawteServerCA.cer
Remember to use BT or IR, no USB
3.- IMAP Download.
Go to your Gmail account settings and enable IMAP.
So thats it, i got Gmail working (sending and receiving) with this settings and certificates.
I dont know if this works for every SE model so if you have a different one than the W810 i'll appreciate if you let me know if it works.
Now please note that i've read on other posts about Gmail suddenly stop working, I don't know if it has anything to do with the certificates or what, if i know i'll post it here.
Also if the links to the certificates stop working dont blame me, try searching for them.
direct your phones wap browser (not min opera) to
www.orka.mine.nu/pub/gmail/
and you can download the 2 certificates straight to your phone without needing to connect and install via a PC
Hope this mini guide helps
THIS IS THE ONLY WAY YOU CAN SEND 20 MB ATTACHMENTS WITH OUR PHONES.
