Now please note that i've read on other posts about Gmail suddenly stop working, I don't know if it has anything to do with the certificates or what, if i know i'll post it here.
Also if the links to the certificates stop working dont blame me, try searching for them.

direct your phones wap browser (not min opera) to
www.orka.mine.nu/pub/gmail/
and you can download the 2 certificates straight to your phone without needing to connect and install via a PC

Hope this mini guide helps

Yep, works on W660i, with default ports for SSL (993 and 465).

redguy... did you needed any certificates? I'm asking because I have a modded customization with alot of certificates, and... i didn't.

If the phone is not preloaded with any certificates other than default then it will 100 % require a certificate as attached above...(for w810)

i was able to enable push email using these settings on a w610i. incoming: 993/ssl and outgoing: 25/tls. i did download the certificates and transferred via bluetooth but i wasn't sure where to put them so i just left them in my phone's "other" folder (not on the memory card).

i do have one question though, for those of you who are using gmail with push email enabled on your phones, how does the battery put up with that ? does it drain faster ? if so, how much faster ?

You must transfer certificates thru " send object" method only by bluetooth...then they will be stores in right place
. or otherwise use the WAP link to install

and yes baterry will drain faster if yr setings is like " ckheck every 10 mins" ....interval shud be adjusted at a feasible limit to save battery......

Damn you O2 and your horrible payg port blocking.

I can get gmail to work on my phone sorta, but can't send attachments so I was eager to try this.
No luck so far, and I get an error when trying to goto the certificate website with my phone.
I have a K810i.

Edit
It works now. I can finally send attachments. Even my inbox works properly now, instead of only receiving old emails, I now receive only the newer ones.

I used all the settings from the original poster, except I used outgoing port 993 instead of 995.
I did not need any certificates, And I set my Gmail settings to IMAP.

Thanks a lot.
MADReaLJL
managed to work.. thx

It's an awesome tutorial, thanks! But I still can't send messages cry.gif ! I followed the guide closely but it just says "finding server" for ever with port 25, and "sending message" for ever with port 465. The message has a 250 kb file attached, and it never sent it. After something like 20 minutes, the "sending message" goes away, but the message is still in the outbox! What could be wrong?

it works perfectly....just follow first post STEP BY STEP..its working for thousands.........if still not working..just reply back...and yes its 100 % working on all SONY ERICSSON PHONES with GPRS Connection and gmail account

sucess in my w810i thank you.

dont fogot down load and save certificate GMAIL_on_810_with_imap

extract the download file, COPY the 3 certificates.

Go to memory stick/MSSEMC/System/licence trannsfer/(PASTE)

THEN go to phone /message/Email/inbox-more send & receive
hoochke
For the record: I tried these settings on my SE w880i (about 10 times now blink.gif) and I still get
CODE
"Incorrect username or password.
Server message: Invalid credentials (Failure)"

All the certificates were preloaded. Re-downloading gives a "certificate already exists" message.

Gmail for Mobile app works like a charm, tho. But I prefer a built in solution.
isashach
sijissasi - yeah maybe it works for thousands, but for hundreds it dosn't work. I am 100% sure that Chaudhary, parshast and ::vicky:: did everything step by step, and they have a problem due to some other things. They arn't the only ones, I tried sevral times all these settings on my SE V800, and at the moment, I can only receive emails. Just don't always critisice people.
::vicky::
yeah right i tried everything step by step

it will not work on built in client because gmail is not supporting some service or say the built in email client in se phones
xxsplit
Thank you sooooooo much for the certs and tips.

I got my w850i setup with IMAP in/out and working.
I used the TLS outgoing 587 port.

One extra note on uploading the certificates via Bluetooth:

Only upload the *.cer files.
Upload them one by one and as they come your device will ask you to save the certificates. Do so.

Txs again.

you can't send them using USB. You can either use Bluetooth, infra-red or a Internet connectio.
pellemarius
i cant get it work...if i have a w910i..can i download those certificates from first post, or do i have to find another for my phone?(if i say this it means that i didnt install the certificates yet laugh.gif )
im using a GPRS WAP connection, not a GPRS INTERNET connection. could this be the problem too?
my phone is hanging at the "finding server".

EDIT : i searched my phone for these certificates and i found them...they are installed and active...i didnt install the ones posted in the first post, but it still not working. sad.gif
you can try to search them too : Menu-Settings-General-Security-Certificates
and i found them there...
now i have another question...do i have to install the ones from the first post(and maybe then it will give me an error telling me that i have them already installed) or...what??? sad.gif smile.gif

you know honestly i think it might be the provider the settings that they have in there phones
