Full Version: Question's About O2 K800i

Hey,
I have a K800i phone on O2 UK PAYG and I don't have any problems with the phone itself per-se. However, it seems to be locked to O2's network. I called O2 up and asked them if they could remove it and I ended up getting the lecture about contractual obligations ("You must own the phone + the sim for at least 12 months before we can remove the block") despite my protests that I've been with them for two years.

My question is basically, is there a DIY method of unlocking your phone? If you change the firmware will that unlock the phone? or is its locked-ness some coding wierdness hidden in some part of the phone that isnt in the filesystem.

I sound idiotic, but I'm desperate to unlock the phone especially as otherwise I'm doomed to have to use a LG shine courtesy of 3-UK.

Oh and if you could provide links to where I could do these things it would be much appreciated!

Thanks,

Sean
