Full Version: Se-123 Help Needed

Hi,
I own a pre-release (or test) version of P1i. It is named SE-123, and it has full functionality - just one little annoying thing: I live in Croatia and in our alphabet we have some characters not standard to most other languages. Before, when new mails arrived on my blackberry client, those chars were replaced with similar ones, but now they just don't get displayed.
For example: a word "kuća" (I hope y'all see that 3rd character, which should be a "c" with a short "slash" over it). It means "house". Now, before a mail would arrive and that word wuold be displayed as "kuca" - with a simple "c" - which is OK. Now, however, it comes without that char at all, so it reads "kua". And that bothers me.

Now, doing some research, I found out my firmware is a bit strange, and my CDA is not as it was on my m600i. M600i had "World Generic" firmware, but this one I don't know.

So, here's my data:
Phone: CXC 162037 R9J005
Bluetooth: CXC 162143 R1D
Organiser: CXC 162108R6F41
CDA: CDA 162024/92 R5A

I hope I'm not makinga mess here: I would like what I need to do in order to get my characters displaying as they used to on my m600i (regularry buyed phone, not test-ver). I think it's the CDA that needs change, but I am not sure & I can't find a guide that can help me fix my problem.
I tried SEUS, but it keeps saying my FW is up to date.

OH, also (if it means something), my Blackberry client version is waaaay off: on the SE site they offer BB desktop client ver 4.0.0.19 and my phone reports it's version as "4.0.0.90".

Any help would be of great appreciation!
Thanx!!!

I've been reading some more, and as I understood I should use the procedure described in Unbranding Your Se Smartphone With Xs++ V2.2 And Seus, Supported phones: M600/P990/P1/W950/W960.
But... which of the suggested drop-down scripts should I use? Is there something going to be different since I'm using the BROWN phone? Or is there a way to change just the FS ('cause if I understood right, that's where languages/fonts/etc is stored)?

Please help me, because if I brick this phone I ain't gonna get no assistance anywhere, since it's the brown phone.

Thanx!

First back up your gdfs through xss++ software from your phone, before doing anything to ur phone. the gdfs backup should be kept in a safe file of your computer.

Admins, sorry for bumping this thread up, but I found out a couple of new things...

1. it's a brown phone, so in order to be SEUSed it has to be converted to red. How, that's a mistery to me.
2. maybe not - maybe if I just change my CDA, for which Google says it's Swedish - maybe then it would SEUS itself to a new (GW1) CDA?
3. my friend has the exact same software on his P1i, the only difference being that he has a clean, simple RED phone. And guess what - his e-mails work fine! What gives? I still can't belive it's possible!!!

So, back to the Q's:
1. would changing my CDA but without changing it's BROWN status to RED help my P1i get SEUSed?
2. anybody else having any other ideas? I even extracted fonts from my m600i and put them to memory card, but it's not the fonts since I can write all the chars I want :/

xs++ doesn't support brown phones

none that i can think of
Mattwood
you are stuck with proto-types, we have a W710i and we can not get it to flash on anything, it doesn't have standard software/security

you can convert the certificate in RED phones to brown or blue with cruiser but you can not touch proto's sad.gif

I still dont get why sony dont make all phones brown, as they dont want people hacking theyre pones.

you can actually do more to handsets when they are in brown state, the RED is a full retail security on the handset. if they made it brown it would be easier to unlock etc.

Red = retail
brown = engineer/weaker security
blue = factory - i.e. when getting built and programmed

The brown is neither here or there with proto's they have a completely different software so they aren't even recognised as the handset they are, its re-written when the handset goes into production. hence you can not do anything with them with any means of flashing even EMMA will not flash prototype handsets.
weirdwilli
If theyre not recognised.. is there not a manual way to get them seen by the computer or software, like force the software to think that its for example a K550i or whatever
Mattwood
i have tried many things, brown flash files, etc tried to upgrade to red, but i never had any joy.. you could always replace the flash chip and flash the handset as a 'blank' phone.

EMMA see's proto's but will not flash them or upgrade.

there will be a program out there as blank phone flashing was a early way to unlock handsets and still offered when new CID's come out

There must be some way to do it... If you look at my P1i's data, it has all the newest software on it, so there must be the way. then again, it says it's platform is DB2001, which I haven't encountered anywhere else; then it says it's CID 49, but AFAIK all other P1s are CID 51 or smth similar...

Mah...

What I don't understand is why this darn Swedish CDA sad.gif

So, what you al are saying is that I have to live with that phone the way it is, without chance of changin CDA to GW1?

pretty much, i know i tried things such as Wotan etc when trying to upgrade the software in the W710i proto we have and they wouldn't flash them - since they manipulate EMMA and EMMA wont flash them i wasn't surprised.

I see...
And this "replace the flash chip" option? ow do I do that?

you can search some of the forums, but this seems to be offered in the Baltic region, i guess this is due to the fact that Manufactures have factories around that area so they get inside info and help....

Removing the flash chip and re-programming the handset is something i wouldn't advise you do yourself unless you have all the information and software you need.

Level 3 service centres can do this on Nokia handsets - i use to reprogram lots of Nokia's but you had to get activation files from SALO which is a part of Nokia that deals with this stuff and Dongle activations for repair centres and re-programmers. I don't know what the equivalent is for SE

Thanx, Mattwood, you helped me a lot!

At least now I know I can stop searching around...
