Just got a new Rogers W580i and would like to unlock it and install Traditional Chinese version of firmware on it. I am absolutely 1st timer idiot , can someone pls let me know what are required and may be step by step instruction to do this. I've seen many threads regarding unlock but not many for w580, are some other SE models works the same as w580?

Get W580_R6BC002_FS_APAC_RED52 and W580_R6BC002_MAIN_CHINA_LA_RED52.

Also get the custpack: HB1-06_Gen_CDA102568_101_R8A_GENERIC_APAC

It have Chinese.

There nothing to unlock your phone for free, you have to pay.

If you want to get the Rogers Firmware back, get it at ats-com

find this: "W580 R6BE001 FS ROGERS RED52" and "W580 R6BE001 MAIN NAM 1 LA RED52".

But you have to register it.

It cost $57.

I have rogers custom pack, but you have to get the custom pack for me, before I'll give you it.

You don't need to unlock it if you want that firmware.
Use the ones BHBMT says.

Remember. Unlock is if you want to change operator instead Rogers. Unbrand is to personalize, like you want.

Unit One
Make backup files before you debrand your phone, so you will get the roger firmware back.

Here how to make backup.

1. download xs++ from xs++ thread

2. Press "connect" and then follow the instruction.

3. Click on "GDFS" (on the bottom).

4.Click on "backup GDFS" and wait...

You're finished, backup file should be keep in "xs++" folder.

Note: Always backup before you debrand. It is important and you keep it somewhere safe.

Unit Two
Are you ready to flash your phone?

Here how to...

1. Download from Setoolite2 thread

2. Press "Identify" (on the right side) to show up the information

3. In the "Phone Type:" box, change it to w580i.

In the "Files" box, put W580_R6BC002_FS_APAC_RED52 (FS- file system)
W580_R6BC002_MAIN_CHINA_LA_RED52. (MAIN)

In the "MISC files:", put HB1-06_Gen_CDA102568_101_R8A_GENERIC_APAC (custom pack) and must be .zip file

4.Click on "Flash" and wait until it finish.

5. Take out the battery and reinsert it. Turn on your phone and you'll see "Please Wait".

You're done!

Unit Three
If you have problem...

The phone show up "Configuration Error"
Reflash your phone. (go back to unit two)

If phone is broken (external) like keypad crack, sidelight color blind, etc. And you're planning to return to Rogers service
You need to rebrand your phone to get the Rogers firmwares back. (debrand your phone can lose your warranty)

Use backup...

1. go to xs++

2. connect the phone.

3. click on "GDFS"

4. put the backup file in "restore gdfs" box

5. click on "write gdfs"

You're finish!

If backup is not working, you have to go to ats-com to buy the firmwares. (read my previous post in your
thread)

No, no BHBMT. GDFS backup is not that kind of backup. This is just for emergencies and should be used with extreme caution. Writing GDFS in DB2020 phones is dangerous, he could kill his phone.

He won't have that custom Rogers backup with this.

sorry , I tried to my w580i and it works. Also my friend got the rogers firmware back using backup gdfs.

You have to rebrand to get rogers back. So rogers will not know if you flash your phone.

Some website are not free.

ats-com is rip-off, the shipping cost $47. Why did they add shipping price to download?
(only one that you can get rogers firmwares for w580i)

Haha, imprisonment? If you are with Rogers then you already are in 3year nightmare prison.
Anyway, you will most likely void your warranty at that.

Topsony is cheaper than ats-com

Because if you do a bad backup or your GDFS gets damaged, your phone is 95% dead, totally. (db2020)

So you need to be careful what you do with this. Things can go bad at any time.

Sorry guys, I was out of town w/out any internet connection.

I will try to get the Software that you mentioned and save a backup file and go from there. Will let you know what's happening.

I do need to unlock the phone as I plan to use it in another country. Any idea?
