I'm having some trouble making/understanding the startup screen stuff.

First of all...I installed the patch that moves the folder /fs/tpa/preset/system/settings to an accessible part of my phone.

Then I copied over a GIF that I want to use as the startup and shutdown animation. Here's where I'm having trouble.

I copied the file and named it both STARTUP_IMAGE_SEMC and SHUTDOWN_IMAGE_SEMC (yes, i want to use the same animation for both startup/shutdown). I shutdown, and it works. I boot up, and I get a white screen, and then the phone works.

So, thinking that I didn't copy "SPLASH" to the phone, I made another copy of the GIF, and renamed it SPLASH.

So now SPLASH works, but it only displays the first frame of the animation.

So from what I understand, you can't have animated splash startup screens? Or must you cheat and use the phone's built in settings: menu > settings > display > start-up screen? If so, then what's the point of STARTUP_IMAGE_SEMC?

Furthermore, is SPLASH a file that's not animated? Does that man all the fancy startup animation that I see...were done using the above menu > settings > ... method?

Thanks in advanced.

CORRECT - SPLASH cannot be animated.

As far as I know, STARTUP_IMAGE_SEMC is just the file created when you set a startup screen through the settings menu.
