Hi
I am planning to buy a SE w810i not only as a walkman phone.

But before that I am afraid that I will need a particular thing, I will definitely need to have this'automatic keypad lock with password' feature, which is not present in w810i.

I heard some patches can make that happen - browsed tyhis forum for really long & there is lot of imformation but I am getting confused as I am new to this....

The few things that confusing me are:

1) There are different versions of firmwares & not all patches install on all..... how to know the exact firmware version..... I will be buying the SE 810i separately not as bundle from any service provider. (so i will not need to unlock/unbrand I guess?)

2) Can I be sure , that I will definitely find a patch which will work for that 'automatic keypad lock with password' - cause that is very very important to me & also i really want to buy this phone only. What I will have to do to install those patch?

I did use search extensively before posting this thread & I would not have done that unlessI was really confused.
So please help out by explaining.
Thanks for your time.

Yes you can do all the patchy things to a W810. Infact I think it is the phone that has most useful patches. But you should by a W810 with a CID 49.
use SE service menu to find out about CID.

Thanx for the reply thilanka smile.gif
Is there any way to check the CID before actually buying it? (maybe during a trial?) | I did searched the service menu but found no CID? got a firmware version thing though!

no more reply! sad.gif

CID is stated in the configuration menu of service menu
says like this

C:49 P: 1
in my phone
sparkyboy
Press > * < < * < * to go to the service menu, go to the configuration menu and lookout for something along the lines of "c:49" or "c:50" - This is the CID version

- Note these instructions are for w810i, the "c:49" or "c:50" may not be there for other handsets

@thilanka,
you was just a second faster than me tongue.gif

ok, I need few points sorted out please!!

Someone insisted that installing patches in w810i only depends on firmware version not the CID version. Please keep in mind I am going to buy a w810i but not via any service provider. That also means I would not have to go for any unlocking or de-branding? ( I really want to buy w810i but can not live without the keypad lock with password feature)

Please please someone clear this out, I already tried searching for last few days sad.gif .......

Any clarification/further help will be highly appreciated smile.gif

come on people give me some insight :| I heard it is a great friendly place for accurate information about se.
I am really confused.
weirdwilli
You can ust flash it to any firmware anyway so thats not a worry
Snowiffic
W810i patching depends on firmware version AND CID.
So if you have a CID50 with R4EA031 Version, you cannot patch it, but you can still make better camera/sound/debrand.

Thanx for the replies ....

are all new se w810i (not bought via operator) supposed to be cid 50 . The store guys are telling me they can't verify cid no. b4 selling the cell.

Using XS++v3, smile.gif

// Yes, the newer ones are CID50.
But not in all countries as I know.

I'd find one on eBay (new condition) ask em to take it out, tell them to check the CID and take a picture of it to verify they aren't lying, then if it is, buy it. And you can flash any firmware onto the phone to adapt it to any patch you want to use. As long as it is CID49, you're good to go tongue.gif

Thanks for the replies smile.gif

but whatever the CID version or firmware version is - I will always be able to install the small java apps that add different functionality to SE w810i, without any problem - Is that correct?
(as i saw few jars offering password lock feature supposed to work on w810i - donno about cid etc)
