Hello everyone... as i sit her with a nice new K750i i was wondering if i could cut plastic and use it to change the colour of the keypad backlight on my k750i... well u can and here is how to do it....

First follow gbrooks' guide on how to remove the front fascia.... Then once u done that follow this guide... Pics to follow....

Buy some quality street (cheap an comes in many colours!)

Find someone to eat them all if u feel sick after eating too many... Careful not to rip any of the wrappers... Its most important part!

Then take the keys from the handset (i found these to be best to size the plastic with) and place the wrapper of choice under it.

Now carefully cut it out of the plastic and make a hole in the middle slightly bigger than the joystick so it fits right....

Now place the keypad and the plastic back on the fone and sit in amazement as the colour has changed!!!

Please see attached pics for different colours.... Some dont look right but i personally like:

Purple with the black k750i front is amazin! cant really see it in the pic
Yellow is too light to do anything to the colour so dont bother!
Red is amazin! very much like the orange ones of the w800i jus a bit more red!
Orange is exactly like the w800i... y spend tha much on a w800i keypad wen u can eat chocolates and get the same effect
an the blue u get in quality streets looks jus like the white leds so best leave tha colour....

So am gonna stick with purple as its the most striking but feel free to post other colours an picks on here... i'm jus waitin to find the green sweets so i can try tha! for now good night an good bye!

Very nice - especially the purple! Such a shame they can't make the keyboard lights with RGB mixing so the colour can match the theme.

Think I'll have to requisition some Quality Street tomorrow... The hardship!

Nice, I thought that would work, I'll have a go my self. Purple does sound appealing but Orange would work better for mine. Hmm.

well av gone for the red glow as it looks nice with my black front and back an orange middle D

The purple does look stunning! Hmmm, gives me an idea .. ! Kidding! Here's another option for you - black front/back with a purple centre . . .

yes quality streets r jus chocolates in a box in multi coloured wrappers.... but as they use very thin coloured plastic u can use them as a colour filter!!!

I'm gonna av a mess round today with mixin colours as i've found u can use upto 2 wrappers without any problems... anyone for green keypad lights for halloween???

an today i did something that took me a while but looks good!... Cut the wrappers into realy small squares and place each colour over the led on the keypad...

Creates a hippy kinda feeling in your fone and looks amazin!

I tried a pink wrapper today an it seems to b the most striking in colour an brightness!!! But i aint keepin it!

Well heres my sisters K700 that i did with a "Big Purple One"! lol. looks good i think, and she loves it.

Well ive converted my dads K750 to a W800/K750 (white and silver) and found it easy, the K700 on the other hand is the easiest phone to take to bits! Just a few clips and the front pops off! I also took the black bits off the keypad which diffuses the LED's a bit to make them dimmer, but if you take them off then its much brighter and looks a lot better.

anyone mind sending me a few wrappers?? if u have any left! hahaha

I think i will have to open up my phone...AGAIN...Quality (streets, hehe!) ;-)

I recently put a W800 front and back cover on my K750, so when I saw this I had to try changing the colours of my keypad.

I used a piece of orange plastic from a halloween carrier bag.

The results are amazing

Well impressed and cannot tell the difference when compared to a real w800i.

has anyone tried putting a colour over the w800's pad? maybe like a blue colour to make a purple(ish) colour?

with regards to the w800i keypad.... coz its already got orange led's the change in colour wouldnt be that nice... best doing it to standard white lights as colour is more true

Wouldn't the layer of plastic make a noise when you press the keypad?

suprisingly enough it doesnt make ANY noise at all!!! its only very thin an once pressed in with the case its silent!!!

would be kinda funny if every time you sent a text message or made a phone call it sounded like you ate quality street..

just did that.. in a way.. except i kept my keypad pure blue.. and did orange for my top keys.. (using my k750i leds)..

and no, there is no crunch.. but i agree, that would be pretty funny if it did.. haha...

I think puple instead of the blue light might look nice too next to the already orange part.

i came across this forum as i was looking for mods for my k750i. when i found this one i was really excited as it makes the phone very nice and unique. when i went to look for that type of chocolates though i was unlucky. it seems that we don't have them in greece . would someone be kind enough to send me a small collection of some colours (as my bro has a k750 too and my mum a k700 and im sure they will be jealous of mine)? i would be really gratefull!

try using some regular thin printing paper. it did the job for me

pity quality street are mingin compared to the ever so yummy roses!!!

I changed mine to Blue, Looks wicked compeard to the original.!

this is a known trick from nokia. you can use any half transparent paper. but, for the most amazing effect, take a paper (a cheap notebook paper will be the best because it's thin) draw lines over him with a marker (NOT dark colors)and then put it behind the keys. it looks amazing

I wanna try this with my silver k750i but the buttons are blue, so the white led makes the buttons show up blue if ya know what i mean so the colours would have a tint of blue lol
