Hello and welcome to this guide!

Many people have had problems with their joysticks (like k700,k750 and w800) and now i am making a "guide" on what things you can use to clean your joystick with and a little about how to use them on your phone.

1. Contact Cleaner (Or CRC):

This is a spray to clean off electronic parts of dust and other things that might disturb your electronic stuff. To use this on you joystick just simply open the phone (Link to open k750 and w800 is KLICK----->Here<-----KLICK), take the LCD and the button lights away and then just spray on the joystick and watch out so you don't hit the camera etc with it, it can destroy the camera so be careful. Then move the joystick in circles like 20 times. Let it dry for 5-10 minutes and then put your LCD and button lights on.

2. Cotton Buds:

Well, some say it works fine and some says it's bad. That's how you see it if it's a small amount of dust then cotton buds are good but if you have much dust you shouldn't use it. If you use it wrong you may push more dust into the joystick.

3. 5-56 (Like the CRC but can be used in cars aswell)

This is a very good choice. I used it myself and it worked very well. Use it as you use the Contact Cleaner (see above). I think this spray is more usual to have in your home than the contact cleaner. That's the reason i took this spray in this guide.

4. WD-40

Another good cleaning spray that Sammyboy has tested and he said it gives good results! You apply this like the Contact cleaner and 5-56, just look above to see how to apply this!
Thanks to Sammyboy for this!

5. Move your joystick in circles:

Well this is a good choice too but it doesn't last long. You just move your joystick in cricles like 20 times each way and then it should work well for an hour or two but then you need to do it again. First it don't seems like a problem but it becomes annoying over time, trust me.

If you use these cleaning examples then your joystick won't become a problem if you do it right tongue.gif
If you get more Cleaning examples just message them to me and i will put it in this guide and ofcourse you get the credits.

Good bye and happy joystick cleaning!

This is cool, now people won't have to do a huge search to find the method they need! smile.gif

I cleaned mine with crc. Works like a new when I press to left, up right or middle. But when i try to press down it acts like it's beign pressed to middle. It also became way more sensitive so if I press too hard to anywhere it acts like I pressed to middle (by middle I mean directly down, you know).
How can i make it less sensitive to that? laugh.gif

Well try to use a cotton bud around the joystick. Try to use more CRC on the down direction and see if it works

That's a contact cleaner alright! But that's not the one for our SE phones.Check out this one!. This is the right one! You need a quick drying cleaner, and that's the one!

would WD-40 work???

WD-40 is now tested and it works, just be careful when you apply it.

I used a similar method to clean my K750i joystick a while back and since then I have had no problems at all!!! A perfect joystick!!!

All K750/W800 owners should do this! laugh.gif

Well, After you clean it there's another way to keep it out of trouble.

I've got my hands on an IV silicone bag (see last pic) and got a good idea:
cut a circle a tad larger in diameter (2 or 3 mm; sorry, this is EU metrics) than the whole. Puncture a home in the middle of it, and make it square like the joystick shaft; You should now have this:

A tip for the square whole: if you have any friends/relatives working the the shoe industry, ask them for a leather perforator. They are bound to have a squarish one.
Now... the tricky part: giving your ring a cone like shape:
take the new ring and inset into the middle hole a ball pen. Force it a bit in. This will force the silicone ring to take the form of a cone.

Now you can either leave it for a night to sit, or you can heat it a bit with a lighter... JUST A BIT, or you'll ruin it and you'll have to make a new one.
After you are done, slide it over the shaft of the joystick with the opening of the arch pointing up (like a bowl on a table). Now, if you done this right, you won't even feel it, but it won't allow any dust, skin particles, etc to come close to your joystick. I'm at work right now and I can't open the phone up to make a pic or my silicone ring, but I'll get to it when I get home.
Happy joystickin'
PS: the pic with the IV bag:

Search for a silicone one! they are the best.
