Hi

Just got my new Sony Ericsson W995 phone.

When listening to music in Walkman mode, I was surprised that if you hold down the volume control buttons, rather than increasing the volume up and up (or down and down), the track jumps one ahead or goes back instead.

A little counter-intuitive? Or is it a software problem with my phone? I've just USB-updated it to the latest firmware and the issue has not gone away.

BTW I just can't get the hang of 'shaking' the volume up or down. I can switch tracks quite successfully by flicking to the left or right, though. I'm always worried that the phone will shoot out of my hands and smash into tiny pieces, though!

One last issue: I am using a D-Link DIR-655 wireless router at home. It is able to use the RTSP and I have made sure it is configured that way. But I cannot get the YouTube application to work, or even stream YouTube vids from the browser. I keep getting a black frame with no sound and the timer bar advancing (YouTube application) or a "buffering 00%" indication for about a minute and then a 'failed' announcement (browser). Any ideas?

Apart from that, LOVE the phone!

Regards,

Mike

Don't hold them, short press them, volume changes...

I realise that - but I am querying the logic of having the long press change track for the volume control - seeing as the other controls on the same side of the unit do exactly the same thing.

It is a good point but every SE has the same set up where you can change the track with the volume control I guess they decided not to leave it out

As to changing volume with the "Shake control" you don't "Shake" the phone to change volume, you tilt the phone away from you to increase the volume and tilt it towards you to decrease volume.

Ahhh, thanks RockHell.

Maybe my tilting is a bit violent for volume control. It does get a bit of getting used to.

Are there any good Tilt 'n' Shake exercise routines that anyone has developed to perfect the technique, I wonder? laugh.gif

Mike,
changing the tracks by keep pressing the volume buttons is the custom right from the beginning, W800i or K750 evolved.(at times it is annoying when you accidentally keep the volume buttons pressed. But in W995 along with those silver dedicated buttons, they should have omitted the use of volume control for that purpose. I hope they will do it in the next firmware update.
The volume works when you keep the walkman button pressed and just tilt the phone by turning your wrist. I know you are following the illustration in the instruction mannual. lol.gif , which appears violent and dumb. Keep in mind that the phone has got very sensative 3D motion sensor. wink.gif . For track changing you will have to keep pressing the walkman button for 1 second and then gently shake it left or right. Release the button only after the track changes or restarts. it gives vibration when track changes.
Mike, you can check these settings for streaming through Wifi-
Asuming that in the 'Internet Settings' you have selected 'Yes' to the 'Allow Local Conn'.
Also go to 'Stream Settings' and see whether the 'Allow Local Conn' option is set to 'Yes'.
This might work.
