As part of their Winter line-up for the Japanese AU KDDI network Sony Ericsson have released a handset targeted at the 40-50 age group, or what it apparently terms 'the elderly' in Japan. The question of 40-50 year olds being 'elderly' aside this phone actually packs some pretty serious heat for a product apparently aimed at a non-techie demographic. The handset, the Urbano Barone, is supposedly designed with older folks in mind e.g. high contrast keys, etc. It also packs in a 5.14 MP camera, microSD support up to 16 GB, a 3" WVGA screen and WiFi and GPS. It's certainly a far cry from the sort of handset Sony Ericsson releases for older customers in the rest of the world!

Indeed. If they can release that for "the older generation", what have they got in store for the "younger generation"?

Hi guys,
Just one of the elderly (45) checking in I'd buy the last two shown if they make buttons larger, screen bigger and include a Walkman player! Any chance we could play our 45 rpm records with it! Here in USA they sell the "Jitterbug" phone for the old folks, it features an operator that asks you if you want the number saved to the phone! Looks like an old samsung flip type phone, I didn't have a pic to include. So we have many choices  Think I'll stick with W760 I just got off Ebay! Jim |
