Hello,
Please help, i have searched for tutorials but there are so many its overloading my brain. I unlocked and debranded my w995 when i first got it but have no idea what firmware i have on it. 1. How can i check which firmware i have and which is the latest firmware i should be using? 2. I want to install the new cam driver and acoutics mod how can i do this? I still have a2uploader and pretty sure i've still og the usb driver still installed. 3. I am unable to browse the www via wifi. The phone picks up and connects to my access point but I keep getting a connection failure when it tries to open a website,. any ideas why ? I am from the UK and the phone is also a uk model. many thanks |

1. To check your FW version use the service menu (>*<*<<*) and select 'Software info'. The latest version is R1GA026 I believe.
2. Upload modded acoustics to ifs/settings/acoustic with A2Uploader and backup yours first with Codeclaw CID53 FS Xtractor. Look in the drivers section here for those. 3. Can't answer that!

1. menu > settings > general > updateservice > software version
2. Use file system and upload to: Acoustic: IFS/SETTINGS/ACOUSTIC Camera: IFS/SETTINGS/CAMERA 3. Check your router settings, and i believe you still need wap installed @boysie, Latest W995 firmware GENERIC is R1GA026

thanks for the replies guys.
A few more questions if you dont mind. 1. Why is it important I upgrade the firmware? what does the latest firmware actually have ? 2. How do I flash the firmware and update the drivers? i can't seem to find the tutorial. 3. Is the firmware version above available from the sony errisson website? thanks again |

1, by getting latest firmware you'll gain a faster phone and latest java version
2, Use Sony Ericsson Update Service 3, No, you can't directly download firmware however you can use the update service wich upload to your phone -------------------- |

ok i think i'm done.
I should have asked first but should i have deleted all the files in the camera folder first before installing the new one. (there were 3 dat files in total, i just overwritten the dat0) thanks |

A2Uploader would have overwritten camdriver0.dat. Don't delete the others!

what a day...had a few problems which caused my phone to die...just had to pay to get it flashed.
I updated the cam drivers to rodrigues hd but somehow lost the english language. I tried reinstalling the latest firmware from sony erricson site but think my battery must have died half way through. the phone wouldnt turn on just lights!!! if i check current software on phone now it is r1ga026 090906 sony erricson. whats the difference between this and generic firmware? |

Whats the difference between generic and the firmware i have installed?
is the generic version worth installing? or should i stay with what i have? can someone post a link on how to install flash menus? thanks |

Generic means it has no operator branding (and is in most cases the version of firmware that patches gets ported to)
