xperia-pureness

Sony Ericsson gave everyone a surprise by announcing the XPERIA Pureness (remember 'Kiki'? ), a new feature phone, at a media event on Thursday in London. The device was shown off to affirm Sony Ericsson's new brand message, titled "make.believe."  Sony Ericsson showed it off as  "a simple design phone which brings together beautiful craftsmanship and the concept of “talk, text, time - a holiday from technology”. The device  sports a transparent screen and while the bottom  half of the phone looks like a regular candybar, except without any writing on the buttons, the top half looks like its made of glass with most of the screen completely transparent.

The Xperia  Pureness will be officially launched in November 2009 through selected retail distribution channels in key cities around the world.

Few problems

#1. Screen is too small

#2. XPERIA is supposed to be like a smartphone lineup? Or am I not understanding how Sony Ericsson is doing things?

#3. Ugly keypad. But it's a concept so I'll live with it for now.

#4. Screen legibility.

@ geokilla

I agree with you. I don't know if this 'dumb-phone' will do justice to the XPERIA lineup. I'd rather Satio was included, rather than 'XPERIA PURENESS'. Am not a big fan of the name though wink.gif

And their new brand message, titled "make.believe." is just....wierd. Well..lets see how things go from here.

this is an exclusive phone just like companies build exclusive cars,
they dont have to be fast or comfortable they only have to be different and a little expensive smile.gif

I think this is a triumph as a concept design, I really like the look of the phone (the buttons actually look nice once lit).
However, I can't understand the use of the Xperia brand, there's no sense in that at all seeing as the phone will clearly be extremely low on features. Which brings me to my main concern...if the rumoured price true this could be an immense flop! Style is one thing but people aren't going to pay huge prices for a phone which can't even show a picture!

I'd have one as a second phone, one to take out occasionally when I don't need a big, powerful device but even though I like this, it's not something I'd actually own for daily use.
