W580i Trying To Change Carriers

Hi, ive looked over the forums and havnt found anything or either im blind and stupid. But my carrier wont warrenty my phone and i have this 580i, and the carrier im on is telus. I have the phone unbranded and unlocked, and on the telus website to activate/upgrade my phone it asks for a serial number and it says the w580i's sn is no good. Could anyone help me? thanks in advance.
