Hi so I was wondering if it's possible to get support on my s500i Sony Ericsson. Basically I spent a good deal of my afternoon today going from "What? I can change the firmware on my phone?" to actually changing the firmware on my phone. I managed to get Chinese characters to be readable and have Walkman2 on my phone without going through the whole w580 procedure... but now I need to get a way to read japanese characters and korean characters on my phone (not necessary to type, just gotta be able to read it)
I went through the forums and I found a particular thread where the person explained how to customize cust packs? There was a quote where he had this line: <allowed-language>en</allowed-language> <allowed-language>ms</allowed-language> <allowed-language>id</allowed-language> <allowed-language>tl</allowed-language> <allowed-language>vi</allowed-language> <allowed-language>zs</allowed-language> and I had the idea that I could just simply change a country code and it will automatically and magically let my phone read in that language. However I cannot understand how that could work, and I don't really want to mess up my brand new phone. Also, there's no country code for korean so does that mean that phones are not supported for korean languages? I hope someone can clarify this for me thanks! Its code for language that allowed in ur phone,u can add or remove language from that line.. Not about the symbol or character. The only way to add japanesse / korean character is by flashing the fw.But im not sure there is a fw for it (support jap/kor character) at this time... The alternatif is changing the font that support the character. But i dont know this will work or not. Because when i change my phone fonts, now its unable to read/write chinesse (the character become square), and i got some character that change to russian.. So, maybe some character can change to japanesse (or add japanesse character) deppend on ur font...But im not sure about this...
But if this work,u'll get different character from the message sender, if the sender use a different font on his phone.. Its just a theory and hope someone can solved this.. -------------------- Thats newbie answer from the newboy..
