Hi guys,
I've had this phone kicking about doing nothing for some time now, and thought I should get it into some sort of working order. It's tied to the 3 network in the UK, and I'm with T-Mobile now, hence the need to unlock it. I've looked around and have tried some things out, but have managed to somewhat bust my phone. It will not turn on now; using the power button causes a red LED on the top to flash 6 or 7 times. Plugging it into my computer in Flash mode (holding down C) does the same, however holding down 2 and 5 does work to some extent. Here's what I did:
Apparently that was a bad idea! It has led to where I am now. Anyways, as I say I've managed to connect using the 2 and 5 keys, and can connect to JDFlasher in FAR. From here, I've tried to follow the instructions on this page to patch a ROM I downloaded from here. Unfortunately, I get to the point in the instructions that says "click on bflash", only there is no bflash - only oflash and ofs. I tried copying the formware to oflash, and it looked like it worked, but the phone is still flashing red when I try to turn it on. So first things first - can anyone help me get my phone to start working properly again? Thanks -- Edit Well, I managed to get it working again, using SETool. I can't remember if it was the recover or the repair button I used, but it works again. I reloaded the main and FS firmware, and I'm trying to apply a patch I made using QAMaker. I can access the phone using XS++, and I can load the VKP patch in, but the 'Execute Patch' button is still disabled. I've also tried using FAR to apply it, but for some reason, when click on bflash, the phone turns itself on and goes into file transfer mode. What should I be doing? The "execute patch" button is always disabled Is your phone CID52? If so, use SE Tool lite. If it's CID 53 you'll have to use the anyCID method with FAR+jdFlasher. -------------------- This signature is a temporary shelter for the poor expelled slobodanski.de smilies |

Ah, intentional non-functionality, eh?
Alright, I'll give it a go when I get home, thanks! |

Well I used a combination of SE Tool, XS++ and FAR to get the firmware patched. If it wasn't working in one thing, it seemed to work in another.
Once I got the k610i firmware working without a simlock, I had a bash at installing the w660 firmware. Managed to get that working fairly easily now that I know what I'm doing, but it doesn't feel quite so stable - it crashed when I tried to play a music file. I think I'll be reverting to k610i firmware. It does what I need it to do! Thanks for your help |
